Department of Education Reviews

An average Learning curve.

I work for 8 hours a day, from 08:00-16:00 and basically what I do on most of my Busy days is dealing with package slips, delivery notes and invoices. My line of work is based on accuracy, yet you have to work on a given time frame and target. We deliver stationery and textbooks to different schools around the Free State so we cannot afford any inaccuracy. Basically we deal with the supply chain side of the Department of education.

Pros: No promotions
Cons: Normal 8 working hours.

I would highly recommend myself as a bonus to a company

I have degree in LBE learning by experience. I can fit in as foreman or as manager in various positions. Having had my own bussiness for 14 years I've been exposed and picked up experience in various aspects of bussiness.

Pros: I'm very fortunate for I don't know something I would get to know it very fast. I'm willing and eager to learn. I come along with people
Cons: Long hrs is no problem for me

Most fullfilling job

Working as a teacher is both rewarding and challenging. Working with learners, helping them reach their full potential was a dream come true, being there for them, not just as a teacher, but a listener, a confidant, and a comforter was fulfilling. The biggest challenge I faced was working with sometimes, lazy colleagues, who did not attend classes, Negative attitudes from colleagues with years of experience, and sometimes being turned into a laughing stock of the Staff room for always trying to do good. Sometimes the challenges came from learners with an attitude, leaners with serious issues at home. However, because I worked with what I love, which is numbers, it was wonderful, and I still want to teach for many more years to come, Accounting, that is.

Pros: Making a difference
Cons: Level of unprofessionalism

Challenging task

I learn every day as we have learners with different capabilities and from diverse culture. I would not miss a day at work since to me it is my second home. I enjoy the challdnges that we encounter with our learners. I work with learners who are basically from disadvantaged background and I find myself being able to put a smile on a face,I am able to sleep well. Knowing the impact I would have made will be long lasting.

Pros: I get to follow success of learners easily through the use of technology/social media.
Cons: Seeing learners drop out of school is painful.

Bad

My experience was amazing whne it came to thw job itself. We traveled to many parts of KwaZulu-Natal with government official inservice to learners, educators and the reat of the departments servants. Since i was a part of the Communication and Publications Directorate: we wrote stories amd photos to presnet to the public on the departments website, social media and newsletters. However, my co-workers were absolutely not professional to a point were the conflict was out of hand qnd people had to moce to other parrs of the department. The director of our directorate was unfair was never concerned on how interns were treated as he was rhe reason for moat fights. For example, he would hear a story or rumour from a party and he would take sides and ultimately divided the office, which made him happy

Pros: Interacting with different people and traveling
Cons: The environment and the people i worked were awuful
