Curved one

I love my job but it does not pay. The amount of work and overtime we put in is more than what I am currently doing. I am a pension fund auditor for 2 years and overall have been with Deloitte for 7 years. Every week I am on a new audit client.

Pros: I learn a lot
Cons: Amount of backlog

Good learning

Invaluable learning and exposure to different industries. Learning involves critical thinking skills, cluwnt facing, team working and managerial skills. Brand associated to your name goes a long way on your CV distinguishing you from the rest. Its however difficult ti strike a balance between work and your social life as its a fast paced environment

Great Learning Environment

The learning environment for accounting graduates to learn more about audit and assurance is great. My work experience in audit and assurance has exposed me to the following industries: mining, retail, aviation, media and print, travel, travel software and tourism and logistics. The experience has allowed for me to gain and develop in the following areas: being able to manage a team of up to 8 on an audit engagement, being able to manage multiple audit engagements at the same time, work in a fast paced and deadline driven environment, manage audit engagement budgets and targets, manage schedules, lead and prepare for meetings with stakeholders, the ability to do research on various industries and apply it to the audit engagements and the ability to remain flexible and adapt to different industries and clients.

Culture Shock

High staff turnover. Manager is incompetent in leading the team. Team members do their own thing. No structure. No processes in place. Chaotic environment. Team members work in silos. Very little knowledge sharing.

Brand equity

There is equity behind the brand but not much support on individual personal development. There is a rigid set of views with little room for adaptability. There is a value of flexibility set but actually put this flexibility into practice is sometimes an issue.

I did not enjoy the culture within Deloitte

NDeloitte is honestly the pits of the pits, there is no work life balance. as a senior you basically do not have a life and you always need to avail yourself even if a manager calls on a saturday, the remuneration package is trash as well. trainees in other industries get oaid much better than what trainees earn your here, HR is never on your side and no one really cares of your mental health overall I wouldn't suggest that anyone join Deloitte because most trainees are not happy with the compay.

As a leader in Professional Services, Deloitte drives and adopts global best practices in every aspect of the organisation. As a corporate it sets the standard for others to follow. The work can be demanding and rewarding, especially if you are in the right team and if you are are recognised. There are also several opportunities for learning and development.

Pros: Promotes high standards of values and ethics. Good earning potential. Learning and development opportunities.
Cons: Favoritism is prevalent and difficult to prove.
