Department of Health Reviews

Great learning curve

Great department to work for. There is personal growth and lots of opportunities. Everyone is professional especially our CEO, she knows each and everyone of us by name. My boss hardly recognize great work but always ready to give warnings should there be complaints, that is very discouraging but I always keep my cool. It is challenging when you as a Technician introduce change to end users (new software) and it gives problems along the way. They tend to lose trust in you and it's not easy to regain it. I enjoy learning different technical aspects and working face to face with different people, from a cleaner to executive members and clinicians.

Pros: You get a Persal Number which you keep for life and makes it easy to get employment in the Government Sector.
Cons: You get calls even after work on your cellphone to assist with technical matters.

I'm currently working for byte Technology Part time

My duties at my current employment are: Fixing , installing and upgrading systems for PEP stores, Ackerman's,and Duns around KZN. I also worked for Phuthuma Technology in partnership with DOH KZN , SITA and Data Centrix as a Field and Facility Senior Technician. On both companies I learned on how to work with Clients and employers. I learned to work with time and teams. The most challenging aspects is when a client needs help while helpdesk is on other call or lunch.

Pros: Great
Cons: Good

Excellent learning curve

Difficulty doing a job without adequate resources. Staff and management have no discipline. Managers do as they please, by coming to work late and leaving earlier without any accountability.

Pros: Great working hours
Cons: No resources.

I adapt quickly and I do not hesitate to ask should I not comprehend

Working at the hospital is fascinating because not only do I get in contact with my office colleagues but also with the medical team, doctors, nurses, psychologists etc. I have learned that when you dealing with patients administration of different age groups, therefore character must be friendly and very patient. Whats challenging about my line of work is basically the fact that Mondays deadlines are always many due to weekends overflow of patients. And iv learnt that most casualties are from weekends and caused by alcohol.

Pros: Promote faster and effective resources to spare time and money
Cons: Many deadlines to meet
