Transnet Freight Rail Reviews

Its been a great learning curve

a typical day at work would be dealing with Transnet customers daily whether communicating via mails/ telephone. my relationship with my co-workers has always been good as i ensure that i respect and communicate better with them at all times. i have learnt a lot in the logistic industry as i see that its very competitive and requires dedicated people to be able to deliver on their promise to its clients. i enjoyed working on systems as we usually assist the clients using them as our daily duties. the most challenging job was when we were not able to deliver our promise to the clients and the short shipments of their products.

Pros: great exposure to the transport and logistic industry
Cons: end up assisting customer even after work hours

Great learning experience

I work a 7:30-4:00 type of work which cool. My day to day work include generating the company performance reports and doing data analysis. My relationship with my co-workers is great, we work together as a team to achieve the company's goals. I have learnt a lot regarding the company in terms of performance and how import for each one of us to do their work beyond expectations as it helps the company do well. I enjoy working with my team. The most challenging aspect of my job is not being able to receive information from different stakeholders in time. this affects the submission deadlines of reports.

Pros: Great opportunity for growth
Cons: abnormal working hours

Great Exposure and development

Transnet is company that motivates its employees by continuously giving recognition and rewarding excellency and takes pride when the customers are happy. So I ensure to maintain communication with my internal customers and suppliers on my work to ensure my job output always meet with my customer's expectation. Building relationships internally can be challenging since i get to interact with people with different backgrounds but with time then becomes enjoyable as one gets to master to exercise emotion intelligence.

Pros: enough time for break periods, and good rewards
Cons: hard to have contact meeting with senior management

Marvelous

I'm ambitious, self motivated, go getter, I can work with people and work under pressure. I'm hard work and whatever I do, I do with passion, I'm also a fast leaner. I worked for Transnet for 13 years as a train control officer, I gained a lot of experience with them and I'm willing to learn other field and excel in them and give all my being. I had a excellent relationship with my colleagues, it was fun working at transnet even thou we worked long hours, they were like 2nd family to me. I'm available as in today.

Business Profits and Company Interests First.

The company contributes directly to the wellness of the economy. This warrants a 24/7 contribution to ensure the smooth running and timeous shipping of the client's cargo. The environment is conducive to teamwork and motivation, as everything works on time - With us, time is money. Every person or worker is equally important in the wellness of the business. No dull moments at all - The intellectual status of leadership is at the right level. As we learn every day, - I have perfected my negotiation skills with clients, labor (unions), the Government on reviewing Legislation that affects the sector I am in, etc. The most challenging aspect of my job is to deal with external forces of crime that destabilize the rail network. This requires a holistic approach that needs proper coordination with external stakeholders and also managing the limited financial resources to realize the set goals.

Pros: Expansion projects that are cross border, giving an opportunity to do business outside the borders of the country.
Cons: Other supporting units or departments are pulling slow.
