Greater experience

old mutual is the best company and a tough company depending on how good you are or lazy you may be. For me I have learnt a lot such as treating different people the same way no matter the're background is. I've always done my best and always strive to do more .what I enjoy the most is the bonuses and the gifts we get as advisors when you exceeded your target. the only challenge is clients are there but not always willing to take the product you just need to have faith and move to the next appointment with your head healed high.

Pros: giving the best to assist the client

Excellent experience gained

Very determined and disciplined work are, keeping a maintaned diary of appointments of client to see daily and weekly, filling out of business km claimed daily. Best way of gaining client service skills and interaction skills. Learned allot about financial situation in country and how peoples goals and plans change according to own finances and worth of money overall.

Pros: Great experience and allot of different divisions
Cons: Slow salary increase

Very good

Very good environment to work within, normal office hours over time was done if target not met for that week.I enjoyed working for the company as I was earning more on sales.I have done NQF level 4 management course with the company. There was growth in the company.

I had a wonderfull expierence at Old Murual I have learned alot in 4 years.

I loved my job just to work with clients and to be able to help people what I love to do. I always say just be positive think the impossible and you will do the possible. I loved my co-workers if they needed me I was always there to help even if it was just to built confidence. The most challenging of my job was to keep my clients satisfied and happy and they never complaint about anything I just have that softness in me to keep them calm and happy.

Excellent learning curve

Analytical quick learner

My typical work day as a underwriter involves financially and medically underwriting prospective clients applying for insurance. An underwriter's duty is to evaluate risk and ensure that we put good risk on books and also charge premiums accordingly - based on age, income and health status. Very good relationships with peers as well as management. In underwriting you learn something new everyday - come across new disease and many times financial requirements change based on laws.

Pros: Great work environment
Cons: Not much room for growth

Excellent customer service

I must say working with customers you must be polite , passionate and have good communication skills .I had a good relationship with the co-workers they are friendly , professional and have good morals .I enjoy helping clients to figure out good policies and how to invest in their kids education .Challenges that I came across was to find some difficult customers but again i had to know that customer is always right

Better opportunity to learn

A Typical work day relates the following: >Monitoring of applicable legislation and processes: FAIS monitoring activities to include the following: - front end mandate monitoring (i.e.: client file. Is mandate signed, are fees recorded, etc.)  FICA monitoring activities to include the following: are FICA documents on file as per process.  Regulation 28 oversight monitoring to ensure compliance with legislation - Regulatory reporting: assist with and monitor deadlines for regulatory reporting are met. - I have a strong and open relationship with my co-workers. The constant learning of new financial market concepts. The most challenging aspects of my job is ensuring the Portfolio Managers follow process and ensure compliance in all their interactions.

Pros: Great opportunity to expand my knowledge base related tp the investmentg management environment
Cons: Not a permanent job

Great Learning Foundation

A typical work day is surrounded by the buzz of financial advisers needing assistance either with client queries or laptop troubleshooting. The morning is filled with laughter and happiness as colleagues share a joke or just engage in early morning banter. I have become a bolder and stronger person in my role as I have learnt to be assertive yet humble in my approach. I enjoy interacting with my colleagues on a day to day basis as we are each from different ethnic backgrounds. Sharing each others cultures is what makes for interesting relationships and friendships and gives me an opportunity to grow and learn different things. Challenges arise in any business but for me in my particular role, the most challenging aspects are trying to communicate to older generations and try to get them to understand the ways and technologies of the new world.

There is a lot of opportunities to learn and develop you as a person.

I worked with a lot of fun filled people, very diverse. We were like a big family and it was a pleasure to work with them. I have learned quite a lot, how to communicate on different levels and how to work with diverse people. I enjoyed going to work, because I see every day as a challenge and I thrive on challenges.

Pros: You could grow as a person
Cons: We were sla driven and it meant working longer hours
