3rd Line network support

Good working environment, lots of documentation and network device configuration to optimize network and document changes. Company has take over from previous owner so getting network up to new owners standards, removing on Daisy chain devices to avoid single point of failure. Correcting Spanning tree root bridges. Monitoring of WLan as more users come to main office Wlan is being used more. Everyday has a different challenge or problem to fix, and there are alot of senior netowrk engineers to assist with solving problem and they are willing to help when possible. Being able to learn from them as some are CCIEs it also gives me motivation to get my CCIE written .

Pros: Growing company with a lot being done on the network at the moment.
Cons: Contract and also working with competitor so job security is a worry if contract will be extended and which company will get support contract after network build.

Great company for career growth

The company is very 'grown up', staff are treated as if everyone is on the same level, no position is made to be better than the other - equality. Great team work within the departments. Employees are able to work from home at least once a week to assist with the normal daily stress of traffic, petrol, maintenance, etc. Sadly being an IT company I find meetings are done via teleconference rather than face to face, personally I find this a little harder to build relationships with clients, I do however see the pros with teleconference... ensuring availability, cost and so forth. Company offers good promotion opportunities, always growing their people.

My Work Experience

Good Day My name is Lebogang Ntshani, I would like to apply for the Application Support position. I have studied and obtained a National Diploma Software Development with TUT in 2006. I’m currently studying towards BTech Degree. I am an analytical and logical thinker who can work in a team and independently. And I have had the privilege of working for 3 reputable companies that afforded me the experience of 9 years desktop support to understand how system should work and gave me the background knowledge of the IT infrastructure. I like working with different users or customers which has added value on my development in people skills. And also growth in resolving problems and what is intriguing in IT same problem might not necessarily require the same method of solutions so it has allowed me to explore and think out of the box. And makes the job challenging.

Pros: Not currently where i am, as we are a more advanced support team.
Cons: No promotion

ITIL

May daily task start with reports Then I started logging calls and assign it to the correct engineer to attend to. I follow up on customer quires. Give feedback to customers I have learned to multi task Done my ITIL I have good admin skills I love giving the customers the service he need

Pros: I would like to grow work wise.

Enjoyable flexible work

A flexible environment to work at. Very demanding at month end but at times due to unstructured way of doing things. Good work/life balance.Good corporate culture and company perks. Problem with big corporate is full of gate keepers and limited promotions aspects unless you are very well known and recommended by influencers who can make or break your prospects.

I am currently working for Dimension Data in the Finance Department having joined the company over ten years ago. I am working as a cash man agent clerk which involves cash forecast/cash position/receipting debtors/ fec/bank downloads/ sub ledger clearing/eft payments/credit card payments/. I have just completed my degree in Bcom Risk with Unisa. I am hard worker/honest always willing to learn and can work without supervision Current duties Statement downloads GL accounts maintenance/clearing Maintenance of bank signatories EFT payments Credit card payments/P card Cash forecast Bank recons Processing journals Clearing of accounts Forex buying and allocations PO dates locking Sending out exchange rate Cost deferral reports Petty Cash Debtors receipting International payments

I currently work and enjoy a very dynamix work environment

My typical day is always very diverse and dynamic from operational to strategic challenges. I am a member of our local executive team. The structure I operate in is very matrixed wih a degree of global and regional direction but I'm fully accountable for execution and delivery local business priorities. I love the people I work with and being part of an amazing organization and team. I am however looking for a fresh set of challenges and particularly more in the Northern Suburbs. The traffic on the n1 really impacts balancing work and family. I would be happy for a lateral move in an environment where the my culture and the organizations is aligned

Management

I have worked on a team of about 10 people in all, i was responsible of assisting the team with the arrangements of orders working more on Managing queries on internal Clients Loading orders on Track and share point Working closely with our freight forwarders (to obtain and update import order information) and monitoring local imports, I have learned to work together with people and have a communication, Respect and helping each other.

Diversity

To me working with a group of diverse people is the highlight of my day as everyone has their own opinion on everything which makes any issue so much more interesting as we use everyone thinking to resolve a problem more effectively and in turn everyone learns something out of the session. Working with different people I enjoy the most about my job . The most challenging aspect of my job is when I have irate client or I don't get the support I need from senior management.

Cons: Highly stressful and long working hours , no work life balance
