University of Johannesburg Reviews

Academic excellence

I have currently completed my qualification at the University of Johannesburg in Financial Management. I am excellent at working with numbers and I thrive at a chance to learn new skills in order to develop myself and others on a professional level. My ability to work well with people and excel academically has resulted in great success as a student at the University. One of my greatest accomplishments is completing my undergraduate qualification on time with several distinction in major modules. In the year 2016 I attended the work integrated learning, a programme that prepares one for work place. In addition, I was also a tutor at the University of Johannesburg and this position has given me great work experience and exposing me to work ethics and responsibilities. I believe I can extend my knowledge and gain practical valuable skills and experience by belonging to an organisation/company like yours. I would love the opportunity to meet with you and discuss this further.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Long working hours

My current job

I enjoy my current job a lot. Helping students with their queries and seeing them walk away with their information needs being met gives me a great sense of joy. I make sure that I play my part as a librarian to provide them with the necessary information that they need in order to excel in their academic studies. This is the core of my job as a learning commons librarian.

Pros: Knowing that I make a small contribution to impacting someone else's future.
Cons: Long working hours

Excellent learning curve

it was an excellent learning curve being a UJ student and Acccoutning graduate, it has all been made possible because of God and my hard work. There times were i felt like giving up but I just had to pick myself and stay strong. It was not an easy journey to complete my studies, the road was bumpy. I made a lot of friends , learnt a lot of things such as problem-solving skills, analytical skills and critcial-thinking skills. The most challenging part of my years of studying at UJ was having to study hard to qualify for my exams, submitting my assignments and woring hard to meet deadlines.

Pros: great oportunity to grow academically
Cons: having work and study long hours

Excellent learning curve

I enjoy working on this environment because i am not being micro managed. I function well in an environment where i am given opportunity to do a work on my own. My good interpersonal skills makes it easy for me to work with my colleagues. I have realized that each of my colleagues has that unique contribution towards my work. Each work environment has its politics but i do not allow politics to disturb me to carry my duties. I actually uses then to my benefit to perform better. The good thing about my work environment is that there is no jealousy. Everyone focuses on their own goals and their work. we complement each other and always encourage each other. The other good thing about this work is i can do most of my tasks at home. The challenging aspect is that you have to plan very well ahead. No one is there to micromanage you. You have to have good time management skills

Pros: Flexible working hours
Cons: Lower salaries
