University of The Free State Reviews

Excellent learning curve

The experience I head during the practicals is the relationship that we build as colleagues and with the students by getting to learn the strong and weak points of the students, preparing apparatus for them and to assisting them were there is a problem. That experience I head enabled me to develop excellent interpersonal, leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

Pros: To get a great opportunity to further develop my career.
Cons: Long working hours without a break.

Good entry level

Its frustrating, Lecturers and students always complain. Enjoy working with Technology. The manager is good. Co-workers are sneaky and competitive. I need more challenge and more incentives to actually want to fight more for success

Pros: Great point for a start
Cons: Long working hours

Professional growth.

I am a Marketing and Recruitment officer for the University of the Free State, it entails a lot of travelling to schools and relationship building with Teachers/Parents and learners. A typical day in the field would be to attend to one-on-one meetings with learners/teachers or parents, career exhibitions and any related event. We sponsor and maintain that relationship with the school and/or party involved. In the office it would consist of admin, CRM, cold calling and various ad hoc tasks/activities. I work in a multi cultural environment and can say that I do uphold a healthy professional relationship with my co-workers. I enjoy the interaction with people the most. The most challenging aspect of my job would is not the travelling but the fact that my area consist of all the provinces in SA and I sleep out at least 4-5 weeks in a row with just being home on Saturdays and Sundays. I would like to be able to travel but still sleep at home more regularly.

Pros: You are looking for better career prospects, professional growth and work opportunities. You want a change in career direction. You are looking for new challenges at work.
Cons: Sleeping out 4 to 5 weeks in a row.

Good staring point

Working at Ufs had provided an opportunity to work with different people from various cultures and believe systems. I have learned to listen and to work actively within a group as well as individually. People here are friendly, mostly at my sub division. I have a good working relationship between my Line manager and co-workers. What is nice about working at the University of the free state it is the atmosphere of the environment and the latest technology that allows you to prosper at your work. What i do not like about the place is the growth potential. there is no growth potential.

Pros: Great place to start a career
Cons: not that much room for growth

Making bookings for the planetarium and the environmental hall. Coordinating the maintenance of the facilities. Attending meetings especially with the government officials Responding to mails and making requisitions for the planetarium and hall maintenance. My relationship with co-workers is good. I have learned to be patient and do what needs to be done on time. I enjoy making research for the article the I am planning to write on astrotourism. Long hours and that I don't see myself growing professionally here.
