Great business mentoring experience
On a typical day at LOI Design I would handle daily admin and emails, have meetings with director and staff, review manufacturing schedules and deadlines, meet with clients, place orders with suppliers and manage budgets. As a an assistant project manager I managed staff below me and enjoyed a close working relationship with them as well as maintaining good relationships with suppliers. I had an excellent relationship with the director and as a result was given more and more responsibility. Working at the same company from a lower to a higher level taught me work ethic, focus and drive. I enjoyed all the challenges that come with moving parts at a design organization and project management level and working through the challenges the long working hours and travelling presented.

I learn something everyday, and I hope to pay it forward
I work for myself so my day consists of conversing with an array of people across a variety of industries on topics that can be technical and/or complicated in nature, but has the potential to impact so many layman South Africans in so many ways. it is is my job to translate the information in such a way that more people can relate to it and understand why it matters to them. I write/edit and proof read media articles, press releases, corporate content and any other digital information offering, whether a blog or podcast. I'm very good at extracting information from expert minds and transposing it into appropriate formats to reach a varied and large audience. Their is a lot of content out there and I'm well-equipped in finding newsworthy and consumable content and finding ways for the masses to find it, to want to read it and in the end extract value from it.

Learning about independence on my own terms.
Being a freelance journalist for just under two years now has given me other avenues to use my skills for purposes other than news writing. My creativity has blossomed again and I have the opportunity to focus on my passions. Not that working as a journalist for Caxton was unpleasant in any way, quite the opposite. It was rather exciting really. A buzzing newsroom, learning new things while being challenged with strict deadlines, the thrill of the chase in a breaking news situation. I have also finished an in Introduction to Web Design course recently, but I have not included this in my CV as yet until I officially graduate. Thank you for taking the time to view my application. Learning how to survive the everchallenging curve
There is the advantage of working at my own pace & it determines how much I will earn per period. Therefore the harder I work in terms of sales volumes the more returns I get. Problem is overstraining myself to get the next sale. Sometimes people are just not interested in the product or just do not have the money to buy. They will let you talk then tell you that are not interested or direft you to someone else. It is however rewarding to persist and come up with new ways to get business.
Pros: Working at your own pace and determining your own targets, very rewarding when those are achieved
Cons: Disappointing results & the need to continue working in order to meet targets.

Developing and growing
Positive daily learning curve. Relationships can be difficult but for the most part productive i have acquired a massive boost on my skills set regarding coaching and working with kids. I have improved my health and fitness due to physical activity required.

Excellent opportunities
I was retrenched December 2016. I could not stay stagnant and decided to be a freelancer till current. Ive been working for different companies and projects from a month to month basis dependant on my availability. Ive worked normal hours and work days, alot of challenges due to certain deadlines of projects. Awesome short relationships with co-workers as the environments we work in is very supportive. I've learned that each moment spent with different people, different cultures and personalities are a blessing and we are never to old to learn from each other. I enjoy meeting new people, learning new internal systems and resolving the issues to accomplish success in a project. Challenges will be everywhere you go especially in a new environment, it is how you perceive, retrieve and persue any task given to you.

Adapting and learning a new environment, making it a success.
I have been a stay at home dad.I have acquired skills I have never thought possible. Learned what true patience means. Managing and negotiating with my little girl has been interesting and adventurous time, she is a very demanding and picky client. Through my sleepless nights and messy day's. Time keeping, organization, willingness and participation has brought structure and love into my family. I can proudly say I have provided my little one with the skills needed take on the world.
Pros: Beter person for taking on this role.
Cons: My wife got a bit jealous for me spending more time with our daughter.
