Good culture is the key in the work place
Mivuyo is an Operations aspirant Specialist with a passion for assisting businesses to improve their ability of managing operations effectively and efficiently. She is a result driven professional with three year’s working experience in the operations environment. In-service training at Dartingo Pressings and work done with Ikamvalethu Consulting at Scaw Metals Group has allowed her to put all what she has learnt during her years of study into practical practice. Working in the production department has given her more drive and enthusiasm to excel in her work and she can be an asset to any company that can employ her. A well organised and focused individual with the ability to interact with all personnel over a wide spectrum from executive level to the shop floor.

When i was thrown into the shifts and had to learn the plant as quick as possible
I work for one of the biggest manufacturing companies in Africa. The atmosphere is always healthy because of the good relationship among us workers and the management. The challenge I meet almost everyday is when there is two breakdowns at the same time because I run the shift as a lone millwright with one fitter but it's fun because challenges help me grow.

Working for scaw
My daily work routine includes attending to breakdowns, upholding safety standards, preventative maintenance. I have a well balanced team of me and a fitter on shift and then the production team with whom I work well. I have learnt a lot from understanding the plant and the scada, the applications and overall understanding of the ASI Networks to the plc and the VFD.

Awesome Review
My day starts off firstly by organising all the previous day orders placed that were not sent through to the various vendors and re-sending as this is extremely important. Then pulling a report and checking if there are any price variances for orders placed the day before. Making some tea and printing all my commodities for purchasing and sourcing for the day. Starting with the breakdowns firstly and commencing with the balance of placing the long lead times items first and placing the balance of the requisitions. My relationship with my co-workers has always being excellent as I am a people's person I tend to get along with all of them. I have learnt so much at this company and I really enjoy challengers that are thrown my way. The most challenging aspect would be that I have to make sure that no production stops in all 15 factories and that we have the stocks available to continue production 24/7.

Cons: Workload too much as it is not delegated correctly.

Took my skills to an efficiently productive level.
My journey thus far in the trade has been an ever learning one,mechanical engineering is broad and I got to meet many new challenges along the way and got to tackle them in an efficient and professional manner.The experience gathered so far puts me in a confident position to welcome new roles and comfortably adapt to any engineering environment. Am a social individual with a passionate team spirit,level headed people person.These are among some of the attributes that will be of benefit to any organisation.

Good learning culture
i train operators, assess and also do the multi skill assessment of all departments in production. I also train forklifts, do inductions, compile training materials, compile assessments materials, assists training manager with WSP, ATR. I also assists in job description improvements, open new files for new employees. I enjoy working with people that i committed to their jobs, the most challenging fact is i do all induction for the whole factory ,also compile the induction test. I also help production to minimize downtime. I have learned not to under estimate anyone that need help as training covers all that.

Cons: Standard working hours(40 hrs a week)

Growth
for the past few mouths that i have been with Scaw Metals group,everything is in order. Scaw metals is a time respective company everything they do happens in time,through Scaw metals i learnd to respect time because when they need the work done they expect it to be delivered on time,through that i leaned to work under pressure.The management is great to work with all they wont is to see the job done.The most enjoyable moments i have at Scaw metals group is working with my group members they teach me a lot of things, through them i learnd to manege others believers and how to respond to others when they are behaving negatively to a situation order to avoid conflict in the work place.

Growth
For the past year that I have been with Scaw Metals group, everything is in order. Scaw metals is a time respective company everything they do happens in time, through Scaw metals I learned to respect time because when they need the work done they expect it to be delivered on time, through that I leaned to work under pressure. The management is great to work with all they won’t is to see the job done. The most enjoyable moments I have at Scaw metals group is working with my group members they teach me a lot of things, through them I learned to manage others believers and how to respond to others when they are behaving negatively to a situation order to avoid conflict in the work place.

Scaw metals is a good company that cares of their employers, pity that it has to retrench so many employers because of competition with some cheap steel companies.

Excellent learning curve
doing wages on a weekly basis excellent relations with co workers, workers and management. have no problem dealing with people sap and vip, hr really enjoy doing wages /payroll dealing with unions
Pros: close to home, bonus check,pension,medical aid
Cons: hostile environment with unions that rules the company
