The different machinery and operations helped me understand engineering better. And helped me grow my knowledge exponentially which even sparked my interest in sharing my knowledge even ended up facilitating boilermaking, felt sharing my knowledge can help someone have as much interest as I have of the field.

Excellent technical manufacturing environment to learn more
Scaw Metals is a technical manufacturing environment, as a result, the environment is challenging and there are always new lessons learned. The environment is never business as usual and as such everyone is kept on their toes having to think on their feet. As a QA Manager, I am responsible for the overall quality management systems of the company and this has equipped me with interpersonal skills and the ability to converse on all levels of the organization, being a team player and able to enhance cross function relationships.

Great learning experience
I recently completed my four years apprenticeship as a millwright at scaw metal , a big steel company .welcoming and save to work at, working overtime to fulfil the company s need to reach its goal.

Excellent working and learning envi
My time at Scaw was wonderful and it taught me a lot as it was my first job. I got along with my co-workers and they can confirm that too. My relationship with my managers was great and they always attended to the issues raised however some managers were racist and would exploited employees which led to other employees leaving the company.

Good skills
Work as a team with my core workers when attending to breakdown always team work to resolve the poblem. Everyday its a new day and learning new things in the plant.

Good work opportunity
I am an admin at Scaw Metals Group started in HR doing the hiring process, creating and terminating contracts of interns. Procurement - Admin using SAP, buyer Building Maintenance Admin - Admin, Buying. Is part of companies procedure to rotted the interns so that we can have a brought idea of what is really happening in an working environment.

Learning curve
The excitement i have when i come across challenging job aspects as that allows me to think out of the box and use my expertise to solve problems at hand. Working with a team of old people; old enough to be my parents and all of them respecting the fact that i might be young but i'm a qualified and professional individual, the respect we give each other is priceless.

Good culture is the key in the work place
Mivuyo is an Operations aspirant Specialist with a passion for assisting businesses to improve their ability of managing operations effectively and efficiently. In-service training at Dartingo Pressings and work done with Ikamvalethu Consulting at Scaw Metals Group has allowed her to put all what she has learnt during her years of study into practical practice. Working in the production department has given her more drive and enthusiasm to excel in her work and she can be an asset to any company that can employ her. A well organised and focused individual with the ability to interact with all personnel over a wide spectrum from executive level to the shop floor.

When i was thrown into the shifts and had to learn the plant as quick as possible
I work for one of the biggest manufacturing companies in Africa. The atmosphere is always healthy because of the good relationship among us workers and the management. The challenge I meet almost everyday is when there is two breakdowns at the same time because I run the shift as a lone millwright with one fitter but it's fun because challenges help me grow.

Working for scaw
My daily work routine includes attending to breakdowns, upholding safety standards, preventative maintenance. I have a well balanced team of me and a fitter on shift and then the production team with whom I work well. I have learnt a lot from understanding the plant and the scada, the applications and overall understanding of the ASI Networks to the plc and the VFD.
