Nestle Reviews

Great quality review

I have 9 working hours daily from 7am- 4pm, on daily basis I attend daily quality review meeting to discuss quality issues and daily plan. Being part of the microbiology department I work as a team player always to conquer daily issues and quality analysis and give necessary support where needed. Being part of this company for so many years I have learnt that quality of the product in terms of compliance is a daily objective in other to accomplish competitive advantage. The most challenging thing about my job is having to work with different people from the plant in other to solve deviances of product results and doing root cause analysis.

Pros: great opportunity for career goals
Cons: weekend work

Good learning curve

Working for Nestle is not that good because of the bad shift patterns with a small salary and the fact that i am not developed ever since i started working in 2012. It has been a great experience working as an operator but i feel that now is the time i do something different and challenging. I enjoy working with people as we are working together as a team in order to reach our target. The challenging part is being engaged on a TPM because it help us to improve our plant.

Pros: Great opportunity to work in a team
Cons: Bad shift patterns

A company for its people

A normal day starts at 07h30 with an average of 250 tons for picking. Picking is done a day prior to delivery and therefore pre-loading is done after picking to ensure appointments times are met. Cycle counting done through the entire day and this keeps inventory record accuracy at 99.5%. I join the Daily Operational Review where shop floor meet to discuss KPIs and the previous day's performance. I am a hands-on manager and have a close, open relationship with peers and subordinates. I've learnt that the best way to motivate staff is to always include them and empower them to excel. I enjoy seeing people develop personally and professionally. The most challenging part of the job is to ensure we satisfy our customers' ever changing demands

Pros: Good opportunity for growth
Cons: Change in customer demands putting pressure on a lean team

Life time experience

My first IT project was in 2014 where I was part of a 450 million project to contract a new Egron and my role was to design and build a new LAN for that factory. This is what I learnt from that experience, first was respect, respect for myself and respect for others, secondly was communication and the catastrophic result of failing to communicate and lastly I learnt to be firm in my decisions and be assertive about it. My second project was to build a complete new Hyper V for the factory this was supposed to be an easy one but it wasn't because, one assumptions and poor planning, two lack of knowledge and skills and thirdly no risk assessment. What did I learn? First and obvious I learnt to never assume anything, each project is different and must be treated differently. Secondly I learnt to plan and double plan and last I learnt to take responsibility for my mistakes. The most challenging aspect of my job has been the lack of infrastructure and shortage of budget.

Pros: Great opportunity for learning
Cons: limited growth
