Day at the Office

A typical working day would start at 6am to perform self assessment for the work performed the previous day than go on to performing the additional work for the day( field work, draft report, reviewing junior colleagues work etc.) the day would normally end at 6pm.I have a wonderful relationship with my colleagues and really enjoy giving on the job training as well as motivating them to reach deadlines. I have learned how to perform data analytics, performance information audits, performance audits as well as risk workshops. I enjoy meeting different clients in different industries. The most challenging aspects of my job is that it is very deadline driven therefore long hours need to be put in.

Pros: great opportunity for diverse clients
Cons: Slow growth

Hard worker, quick learner, can work individually or in a team.

I work and support about over 3000 KPMG employees. Support ranges from Software to Hardware, remote, telepathically or Face to Face and they range from Office 365 to Activate Directory to Asset Management to SLA queries. I also do induction technical training and introduction to new users. I do this on a weekly and yearly basis (when we have a high number of new joiners). I work in a 2 man team (reduced from 5) and even though the work load is more, I still enjoy the job. The most challenging aspects of the job is dealing with a very rude manager. We recently started working with a new manager and I can get a long with all types of people but I cannot work with a rude manager. This is the only challenging part of my job.

Pros: Recognition and rewards, promotions, growth
Cons: Unscheduled long working hours, weekend work.

Customer liaison

A typical work day is when working your normal hours with assisting users and clients with their computers but when needed then a little more time is well spend with users with big issues/problems with their computers. I have a professional and good relationship with my colleges as we help each other where needed. I have learnt a great deal of customer liaison and support assisting them remotely via VPN when having issues at their clients site. I enjoy working with people by assisting with their computer issues. To mingle with my fellow colleges in a professional manner. The most challenging aspects of the job is when there is new starters to work at our company and laptops, cellphone, accounts in AD must be setup. Training given to them for the purpose of their roles. When Directors have issues which need immediate attention with connectivity whilst they are in different countries and assisting via VPN.

Pros: In-house training are provided
Cons: Not very supportive to the staff

Opportunity of a lifetime

I learnt to do a lot of different types of engagements while at kpmg including going out to the client premises. I may not have been offered a permanent post, but that doesn't make me any less because I know myself very well. There is nothing that I could do differently, if afforded a second chance. The reviews half yearly were impressive, they showed that my efforts were paying off. I dedicate myself in my work. I will continue to do so even in the future.

Pros: An opportunity worthwhile
Cons: Some period the work is scarce.
