Can more experience with the Department

I provide support in the procurement processes and assets control within the Directorate. Also provide HR Administration services support i the Directorate. Manage the budget within the Directorate and management of human resources as well as information resources, conducting investigation and represent the department in times of needs

Pros: Less opportunity for promotion
Cons: Working long hours without remuneration

My capabilities

I am assisting area management office during recruitment period, because that function is centralised. Appoint people on persal system after the interviews. I am also appointed as leave coordinator for the institution, assist with policy interpretation. I have a good relations with my colleagues. I was trained to conduct investigations and also appointed as Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator for the institution. the most challenging aspects of the job dealing with people who have got different attitudes, some don't understand the policies one should be patient in explaining to them capabilities

Pros: there is a great chance for promotion
Cons: Working long hours when caturing payments, and updating personnel documents,and when to meet deadlines for submission of reports

Correctional Officer

Ambitious and enthusiastic Correctional Officer with almost 14 years’ experience in the Department of Correctional Services. Proven experience as a Reintegration Case Management Supervisor, Monitoring Officer Case Officer/Security Officer, Security Administration Officer. My experiences include planning and organizing, security administration, access control, guarding escorting and investigation. I am also responsible for important function such as administration, employee's safety and implementation of rules and regulation. What I enjoy most is working with different people with different characters. problem solving and conflict management . the most challenging aspects of my job is gangsterisim within the correctional centre that may lead to fights and escapes.

Great first job

Safety custody of Offenders a the core business of The Department of Correctional services. Rehabilitation of incarcerated offenders through different programs. Company driven by Batho Phili principles. Escorting of offenders to public hospitals, Courts Been employed since 2005, appointed as OHS coordinator in 2013, appointed to Regional OHS team in 2016

A learning experience and a great opportunity.

I am in charge of personnel security vetting function centralized at the head office in Pretoria. I have a team of 15 members at different managerial levels. A learning experience. Had an opportunity to start-up and implement security processes,Develop policies and procedures,Train and mentor staff members as well as forging wonderful working relationships with other stakeholders in and outside the department. Managed and controlled the section budgets. My challenges have been to deliver more with less resources,with innovation and teamwork i was able to deliver on my performance areas.What I enjoyed most was the autonomy and latitude to run projects with support from Executive Management.

Pros: A great opportunity for growth in the security environment, really rewarding.

I get on well with people and i can work with people.

I am a hard worker and am trust worthy. I enjoy working with people. I am a fast learner and have room to still learn. I have good interpersonal skills, am friendly and honest. I enjoy reading news papers and books.

Excellent learning curve

I am a Human Resources practitioner, working for the Department of Correctional Services. I hold an Honours degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the university of South Africa. In my 7years experience in the HR environment, I have amassed great knowledge and skills relating to Human Resources processes. I have good People management skills, Communication Skills, Performance management skills, Conflict resolution, Computer skills, Persuasion skills, Adaptation skills. All of the above skills helps me get things done around the office , as I relate to my colleagues on a daily basis. As a result, our Centre has outclassed others on a number of aspects.

Excellence exposure to wide range of projects

Since i am based in DCS head office project office i am always the center of communication with all project matters and finale decisions to be implemented. I have learnt the importance of clients involvement in the project at all stages of the project and different type of report writing styles from project team members to executives to minister level. What i enjoyed the most is the ability to deduct my fellow DCS members about the Engineering and Construction Industry, especially the latest Technologies we can us to improve our processes. The most challenging aspect was getting executives to pay more attention to specific major projects and give political support where needed, but that was resolved when a concept of Building Information Modelling was introduced, using latest technologies to bring the project to their office space instead of pursuing them to visit the construction site.

Pros: Great exposure to different stakeholders, from Professionals to Municipality and Government officials
Cons: Lengthy processes that compromise projects time

The current working environment or Component doesn't have any senior position . I have reached the exit and I am still very young and innovative ,I still need to grow in my career path . I need to explore new adventures.
