Great company

Nothing challenging about this job, as an administrative person who is assign to a group you mostly wait to be given work and I ind that boring. Employees mostly work in silos. I've learned more about procurement processes and that's what I enjoy most.

Pros: better opportunity for next job
Cons: Not enough support and opportunities for administrative workers

Excellent technical skills and project management

The opportunity offered me some experience of working in the wind energy industry, using python and programming a usable app. My relationship with my supervisor was good and remains so, as he is my Master's co-supervisor. The lessons learned from the data we were dealing with , helped me understand the wind resource available in South Africa and what future lies in those projects. I thoroughly enjoyed the site visits to the wind farms throughout the Eastern, Western and Northern Cape, during the energy drive, which was both challenging and enjoyable.

Pros: Great opportunity to learn
Cons: Working under pressure

Good learning opportunity.

The CSIR has provided me with a great opportunity to build confidence in myself and my work. It has grown me from a junior employee into a confident mid-level employee. I am fortunate to have great managers and colleagues to help with the trying tasks. Due to the fact that we are a research company, we are often pushed to use new methods of analysis and always be on the forefront of science. This makes work difficult as there are seldom tutorials or the like that can assist when there is a problem. This is trying but has grown me and my talent.

Pros: Nice atmosphere
Cons: No incentives to give extra. No bonuses. No year end function unless it is at our own cost. No woman's day gifts. Nothing.
