Karabo holds a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Geography from University of Limpopo Turfloop campus. Her undergraduate degree was a Bachelor of Science with majors in Environmental Science and GIS and remote sensing. Karabo attended advanced GIs and Remote sensing at the University of Pretoria. She is currently working as a junior environmental assessment practitioner at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Karabo has been the project manager for various special need and skills programme Basic Assessment. She assisted with the Umgeni water desalination plant and she is a project officer for wind and solar SEA and National Strategic environmental assessment for Aquaculture. She’s currently working on the City of Cape Town Desalination Environmental Screening Study for bulk water supply.

Good opportunities for studying further especially for researchers, organisational inertia
You're your own boss. not permanently office bound. Very close client interraction gives appreciation for what they do and enables generation of tailored solutions. Co-workers are easy going.. there is a lot of trust between the group. Best part is blowing things up Most challenging aspect is lack of mentorship

Shapes you up for industry.
Good stepping stone, opportunities for growth and mostly overall positive environment.Moderate working team with great policies and procedures. Amazing customer service applications. Have to be proactive at all times to ensure perfect customer service. Have to take initiative and go out of your way for the clients to exceed expectations.

Excellent learning curve and a good networking experince
My work includes a lot of reading and lab work. I am given a research topic or come up with my own and apply for funding. Once the funding is atcheived, I plan the work and execute it in consultation with my line manager. I have been given many opportunities to travel and network.

Excellent career foundation
Great atmosphere, leadership really cares about your development. Amazing growth opportunities. Family atmosphere.Is a great place to learn and grow. I started here with little to no experience but through the great training programs, I was able to pick up the job quickly.

Strong Linux Experience
On a typical day, we perform system health checks, perform corrective and preventative maintenance for our infrastructure. I am supervising two Junior system administrators and distribute tasks among them. I am responsible for managing system administration projects.

Excellent learning curve
Csir is a great place to get technical experience as a graduate to mould you in your chosen speciality. The work life balance is fair as there are sports facilities, a gym and flexible working hours. The environment is conducive to career development and experimentation, however it's a bit more difficult to get a promotion. Most of the work I did was research and development of electronic warfare systems. That included spec development, prototype development, testing and verification of electronic warfare specification. I also did systems engineering task such user requirement spec development.

Excellent Learning Curve
Liaising with clients on day to day HR matters. I have an excellent working relationship with my co-workers. That people engagement is very important. Interacting with people on different levels. Dealing with people issues created by others.

Great learning
A great company to work for with learning opportunity in terms furthering studies. Flexible hours with benefits, 25 leaves days per annum. It provides employees with work life balance. Gym and creche in the compass. Innovative ideas in terms of science and technology to assist with resolving the problems of the country.
