Customs Permit clerk daily activities
I attend to client's queries pertaining their Shipments be it, Tarrif queries, new Permit applications, and any other Import/Export shipment related queries. I also do Payment requisitions for Penalties, or Customs stopped shipments. I do this by preparing all the relevant documents needed to process the requisition and then I forward the Payment request to our finance office where by it will then be processed. I frame SAD 500 Bill of entries for both Import & Export shipments and also do Voucher of Corrections. This is to outline the cost that will be incurred when processing a shipment, this includes a rough estimation of the Duty applicable for that shipment, Ocean freight and The foreign Customs Value for that shipment. I usually assist my fellow colleagues with any Permit related Queries which is my Primary Duty. I do filing, record keeping and Data capturing as well.
Pros: Continuously learn abou new developments within the International Trade Industry.
Cons: You always need to work ahead of time.

Working at BPL is great and gaining experience in the fright forwarding business. Everybody works independently and every body here is willing to help and assist when needed. I have learnt a great deal of the business in BPL and I am currently still learning on a day to day period. Here at BPL we do get a lot of freedom as long as you always perform to your utmost best and always deliver on time. We also work on flexi times incase we running a bit late or if we come early, then we can organize to leave a bit earlier with our superiors. In shipping we deal with challengers on a weekly bases.
Pros: I would love to work somewhere else with new people and experiencing new things within the freght forwarding arena.
Cons: Getting a slopy salary for doing loads of work.

My experience at my current employment
When I was employed at BPL started as a trainee Entry clerk within less then a year I was able to secure a permanent post at a Customs Clerk due to my hard work, determination and being a fast learner. I never knew how to frame but I knew the basicsame that an SAD500 is used for what and in the training we were taught how to frame entries. The industry as taught me a lot on how to work under pressure and met my deadlines on time, as a service provider you need to make sure your client is happy at the end and help them save money by processing their BOE on time and getting clearance from customs before it to late and avoid overstay charge by all means possible. I am very flexible and able to work with others and in a team since I'm still new and fresh in the industry I require a bit of guidance from my co-workers to help guide me into the right path.
Pros: I got promoted from a trainee entry clerk to a customs clerk within less then a year.
Cons: Working on weekends due to back locks

I enjoy to work with other employees because working together bring good results I have learnt so many things in my company like and working with different from other countries I learn new things each day friendship is the most thing I enjoy ever Preparing urgent documents at the small given time it more challenging where I am working

BPL is a good and a lerning curve
-working at BPL is good and fun -team work is what they represent -people are nice and friendly -I was on a learnership program that are learned a lot
