I have been engage in a number of activities in Mining indusrty
I have run a section that is having 800+ employees, I have learn to deal with different kind of employees with different back ground, since we are in ER of which include taking discipline to employees that are not coming to work, under influence of liquor, and theft underground, I have learn that people are very careless and very unfair to the company, month end are very critical because employees are having money and they don't come to work sometime coming sick leave that are more than 6 days, my relationship with my co workers is very perfect and I enjoy working with them because they gave me advises and support every time I need it and I have learnt a lot from them
Pros: I have been acting as HRO on a vacant position
Cons: there is a time where by you need to work more hours to finish the work or to make sure that your section is running

Experience and Knowlegde enquired for past years
Working closely with mechanical artisans, electrical artisans, IT and instrument artisans to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Responsible for the planning, installation, test and commissioning of plant devices or instruments. Things I have learned in the past years: Methodical approach to all tasks. Motivating colleagues. Planning and task management skills. Diversity management. Full knowledge of fault finding processes with technical understanding. A high level of workmanship with an eye for detail. Good user knowledge of all Microsoft operating system. Extensive technical knowledge of testing systems hardware and software Extensive experience with SCADA and PLCs. Strong decision making skills and the ability to prioritize and plan effectively. Excellent communication skills.

Dedicated and hard worker
My work duties are to ensure that every employee under my direct supervision works according to company policies and take pride on the health and safety of one another. Count explosives, give out daily tasks which we as a team has to do and complete adhering to the blasting schedule, and must make sure that each an every personal working directly under my direct supervision has left the mining premises before blasting time. In the years that I have worked as a stopper have learnt that teamwork and dedication will lead to greater goal achievements, challenging aspects are to hold each an every individual accountable for their actions whilst on duty in terms of the team achieving it's targets

Dewatering is one of the mine most important departments the mine depends on the department for water to keep them mining if thers no water the mine stops and loses millions of dollars in production

Actions to ensure greater capacity to achieve
The standard of maintenance is very high at Anglo platinum. It needs to be as we aim to maintain our status as #1 producer. The relationship with employees is good but at times turns sour with certain employees as ill discipline often results in corrective actions being taken. Running a plant that runs for 24hrs is a challenge. Preventative maintenance and proper root cause analysis is key as it ensures that equipment availability is at its best. One needs to ensure that what ever they do, they must do it first time right.Maximum optimization of resources is key. Put safety first, ensure that safety related concerns are attended to timeously to ensure safety and reaching of production targets.Daily tasks envolve ensuring that daily tasks are carried out safely,ensuring that the team is motivated, ensuring that the team knows what needs to be done and also understand the criticality of each task.

Life as a maintenance coordinator
The planning department is the heart of any business unit. In order for production to be realised , the machinery must be on top condition. This is where maintenance is needed. Iwas in charge of the Planned Maintenance Department, in charge of 5 maintenance officers and 12 assistants rendering service to the Engineers and their teams. As for Maintenance Coordinator, I was assisting Maintenance Manager by sending and discussing the reports of the sections, arranging RCA's and coordinating Shutdowns. The fact that I was giving the Manager the whole plant view made me not a famous person until the Engineers agreed that we manage the same Kpi's the same way. The interaction with other departments was important in that the different vteams production and engineering should work towards same goals. I had to arrange meeting for production to understand Engineering KPI's

Seasoned Mining Professional
Work starts at 07:00 and there are meetings scheduled every day from 7:20 till 10:00. This is so wrong. In my opinion that it is the most crucial time of the day to ensure correct line up for Safety and production. The management of the mine are far apart and to become part of the team is a huge challenge specifically when you manage the contractor and are seen as part of that operation. The time spent working with contractors learnt me NEVER to trust them even if they promise that what they are saying are the truth. Go and see for yourself. They will always cover for them self. The most challenging aspect of mining next to a built up area was to control the blasting operation. This is specifically referring to noise, vibration and time of blast. Every blast must be monitored closely and be on time as per the notifications sent out.

Good learning experience
The good things Good people, good machinery and excellent accommodation for family at mine town.A good focus on safety and a generous bonus scheme. The challenges Good prospering mine but the challenge was to stay on top. Being able to employ the right people as we were competing with all the other mines. As coal prices dropped be able to run with a diminished budget.

Sap experience
I'm working as a mechanical fitter doing the maintanance on running plant and I've learnt much things here since I come from pulp and paper industry to mining and we are the good working together team to achieve full time availability of plant and minumising plant breakdowns and down time
