Amazon Reviews

It was an excellent learning curve, it taught me a lot about the call centre environment.

Working for such a great and auspicious company, they provided us with fantastic benefits such as medical aid and provident fund. It was also really nice to work at a place where they had a awesome canteen and relax area. Working long hours can really mentally drain a person and having those incentives was just wonderful. I learned so much working there, as this was my first call centre job. They knew that I came from a retail environment and therefore offered me very good support. I reaaly have no complaints about this company at all. It was just unfortunate that my 12 month contract had ended and had to leave.

Pros: People are so friendly and management offered great support to staff.
Cons: 11 hour shift was very painful. Working Sunday's was not nice at all.

Pros: Ample growth opportunity
Cons: Angry vulgar clients

Great learning experience

Amazon is a fun company to work for. It's a great start in learning the essence of customer service as an agent and the experience for the customer. I've learnt the importance of treating the customer fairly, honestly and being transparent with the customer. I've learnt how to research information for a customer when I don't have it readily and your role as an agent is to reduce customer effort.

Pros: Flexible place to be
Cons: Long hours.

Amazon work experience

Helping customers track their packages, manage their Amazon accounts and help them with general questions. On a normal day I dealt with round about 200 calls. I learnt how to use Outlook, how to respond to irate customers, how to de-escalate customer situations and how to work with the operating system of Amazon. The most challenging aspects of the job was that sometimes we weren't able to tell the customer how their items got lost or why their package hasn't shipped yet but usually that just means there was no stock or the item wasn't processed correcting at the fulfillment center.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion, learned how to deal with irate customers, learned how to be empathetic towards customers that are upset
Cons: Long working hours, I worked from 2pm to 11pm for 5 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday

Every day is day one at Amazon

- A typical work day - assisting customers on the phone with refunds and logistic related issues. - Your relationship with co-workers - very close I am like the go to person when assistance is needed - What you have learnt - always to be yourself yet open yourself to challenges and to new tasks so that you can expand you knowledge gained over the years - What you enjoy most - making my customers happy, ensure that my daily duties are completed to the best of my ability and love learning new things - The most challenging aspects of the job - when I cannot resolve a customers concern raised immediate however I set an expectation and keep to it

Pros: meeting new people and engaging with people globally
Cons: night shifts

Putting work into perspective

Not everyone will dislike call center positions such as this. Some have a talent for bringing the best out of such a position and actively thriving. I dont discourage a customer service job at this company, but just simply say, some will love it, others hate it

Pros: Pay is reasonable, great support from managers and team leaders
Cons: Shifts can be long and tiring, customers are beyond rude and go the extra mile to make you feel insignificant
