Cover letter

I have a master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering and extensive knowledge of the mineral processing and hydrometallurgy behaviour associated with ore such as coal, magnetite, ilmenite, nickel, copper and cobalt. As a final year Master candidate at the University of Pretoria, I maintained an exceeding functional office environment while providing tutorials and practical laboratory experiments. I hold a certificate of attendance from Multotec in Magnetics, Gravity, Sampling and Water Treatment Customer Training. I acquired a certificate of attendance from industrial fluidisation South Africa (IFSA) in which I presented and published an article sponsored by Coaltech on Evaluation of ilmenite as a possible medium in a dry dense medium fluidized bed. This article is available in Industrial Fluidization South Africa journal: pp.81-90. Johannesburg: Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, 2017. This project gave me an experience and a better understanding for coal beneficiation.

Pros: Great opportunity of learning
Cons: Contract work

Good experience

Currently, I assist with reporting documents and drafting letters; planning, scheduling and preparation of the conferences & meetings; updating mailing lists and maintaining the members, publication and media databases. I also provide the general office administration and support. I enjoy events management and good relationships with all my colleagues. The most challenging part of my job is keeping on a diet because there are always treats being brought into the office.

Pros: Courses offered
Cons: No opportunities for promotion

Exciting experience and has taught me so much

It’s a busy 8 hours throughout Payments have to be processed on a daily Teamwork spirit exists and also not limited to To take initiative. During audits, it’s all hectic as work done is put to evaluation and it’s when you know whether you did good or not. Colleagues were much of elderly people and there wasn’t any extra mural activities and I believe all work no play makes Jack a dull boy

Pros: Exposure to a lot of educational opportunities
Cons: Almost half of the staff is taken on vontract

Excellent character builder

A typical day at work involved lecturing 2 to 3 classes. Each class is duration of 2 hours. Some days will contain consultation hours whereby we as assistant lecturers sit in a lab and assist students with their assignments or any content that they are struggling with. Every Monday morning we have a meeting in which we are briefed about the any developments that we need to notify the students about as well as howto approach the week. My relationship with my co-workers is professional but we also are share very close friendships. I have learnt how to deal with different kinds of characters, leadership skills, decision making skills, responsibility, accountability. My most enjoyable moment about my job will have to be the actual lecturing and witnessing students excel and get closer to realizing their goals. The most challenging part is having to juggle my work with my honors studies.

Pros: Great platform to learn people and soft skills
Cons: Difficult to juggle work and school
