My job includes the management of the laboratory facility of the group. I supervise +10 members of staff. These include2 engineers, 2 scientists, 1 lab supervisor, 2 lab technicians and +5 student trainees and inters. I put together budget proposals and reports for the group. I review technical reports produced by group members.

Challenges- highly regulated environment. Compliance Keep current with legislation provide workshop to the internal clients as well as external clients to ensure that they keep current with the legislation

On a typical day, I am responsible for laboratory test work, I run science vote and commercial research experiments. I prepare reagents, writing technical reports and presentations

Qualified fitter and turner
Presently, I am employed by the MINTEK a global leader in mineral and matallurgical innovation as a Fitter and Turner at Engineering and Maintenance Sevices (EMS) Machine Shop. Previously, I was working for the Department of correctional Services Workshop steel Section as a Fitter and Turner. I also works for Insamcor (PTY) LTD as Semi-Skilled fitter and Turner. I also worked as Learner for Diesel motor mechanic in the Mercedes Benz Commercial Vehicle.

Excellent and reliable hardworking
I am a team player and an independent individual when it comes to managing tasks- I reach deadlines but with the work done satisfactorily so. I want to learn in all areas possible not limiting myself, as I believe in growth, development and also improving skills

Excellent learning curve
It was a good company, where I got exposure in the field of physical metallurgy. I have worked well with people and acquired a lot of information. This has influenced me to even further my stadies at university of pretoria, where I managed to obtain a distinction in physical metallurgy in an honours level. Both the research and technical projects at this company has opened my mind and now I am a proud to say I am a good metallurgist.
