Working for Absa Bank
working at Absa bank gave me more experience than i thought, i have learned that working with people it's not as easy as i thought it'll be, but i learned to be patient, understand other poeople and their culture, the most challenging thing to do is trying to understand other people's problems,
Pros: it's not a nice place to work for.
Cons: to be able to allign salaries for other employees.
I started working in Volkskas 1973 up until 2013 since then i have done Temporary work.
43 years experience in the banking industry I learned a lot . Changes in the Banking industry was one of the biggest challenges . I enjoy working with the Top Clients in the Business Industry giving them the best client services. My relationship with my co-workers was good with RESPECT. Daily commitment as a worker makes me proud. I have done several courses in the Banking Industry Obtained NQF 4 and NQF 5 as well as Regulatory Examination. At Sophia Rentals Property I learned the Rental Management System ,House Inspections and Banking Recons.
Pros: Preparing to learn anything that can improve my skills
Cons: At Absa it was long working hours
ITS IS A GOOD COMPANY COMPAN TO WORK FOR. WORKING WITH CLIENTS ON A DAILY BASIS IS AN INTERESTING THING BECAUSE YOU GET TO KNOW AND LEARN TO ACCEPT DIFFERENT PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS WITH DIFFERENT CHARACTORS AND SAME APPLIES TO THE COLLEAGUES. IN A WORKPLACE YOU ALL COME FROM DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS BUT YOU LEARN TO ACCEPT THEM SO YOU CAN BE A GOOD TEAM WORKING HAND IN HAND WITH EVERY COLLEAGUE TO ACHIEVE MORE FOR INDIVIDUAL BENEFIT AND FOR THE COMPANY. I HAVE LEARNT TO BE PATIENT WITH PEOPLE BECAUSE NOT EVERY CLIENT YOU COME ACROSS WITH IS LITERATE OR EDUCATED. I HAVE LEARNT RESPECT EVERY PERSON REGARDLESS OF AGE. I ALSO LEARNT THAT BEING A TEAM WORK MAKES WORK EASIER AND CREATES GOOD WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND GOOD RELATIONSHIP AMONG COLLEAGUES.
Pros: WORKING WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE FROM DAY TO DAY GIVES YOU AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW MUCH WE NEED EACH OTHER IN LIFE.
Cons: IF YOU LVE YOUR WORK YOU PERFORM AND PRODUCE GOOD RESULTS.
Big company where the employees are a number. No regard for the employees well being. Work work work
There is no typical work day. You are inundated with extra things to do by ones manager. Relationship with the manager is he says you do. Bully tactics. no support. sink or swim I love my colleagues. we are like a family and look out for each other. learning and development is hampered by budget constraint and time constraints out of the office. sales are driven. no employee retention. no opportunity for promotion
Pros: Free bank services, lower lending rate
Cons: No promotion opportunities. management too old and too white. no interpersonal skills. bully tactics
Excellent learning experience
I am currently working at Absa Bank a Middle Office Consultant. Every day is a new day for a new learning experience. I look forward to coming to work, working with such loving and supportive team members. Our goal is to give the best service to our client and live up to our values. We love and respect one another. My success is their success. When my team member is battling I would help out and make sure he/she feels strong enough to face another or serve another client. We do a lot of different projects which is a good learning opportunity and gives us new skills.
Pros: great learning exrperience
Excellent learning curve
I meet new people everyday and i have to be professional at all times. Adhere to policies and procedures every time. Process transactions effectively and work underpressure especially on month end.I've learnt not to take client's fustrations personal because at the end of the day I'm representing my company's name. The staff is great and i look forward to working with them everyday because we go through the same problems everyday together and we help each other.my job requires vigilance and focus because i work with money and u cannot trust anyone.
Pros: great opportunities of promotion
Cons: working large amounts. robberies
Love to learn
My every day at work is always busy. I have learn't alot about people, especially irate people and how to stay calm in the situation. I am most definately a people's person and love helping people where I can. I will go the extra mile to help a client. The most challenging aspect of my job is when a repurchase has not paid because there is a computer error. Trying to keep the clients calm and phoning to get a manual payment done. We have just had a new system update so this too has been hair-raising but one learns quick.
Pros: There is no promotion opportunities where I am at the moment. Would love to be able to have the opportunities
Cons: Working on Saturdays
I have 2 appointments per day that I have to meet clients that are on my portfolio as a relationship executive and my responsibility is to provide financial advice to the clients based on the analysis that I have done on their accounts. I have to give a report to my manager regarding the meetings with the clients. I have good relationship with my co-workers when it’s time to focus we work closely together and when it’s time to relax we are more like family not co-workers. My current role has taught me the importance of knowing what’s going on around me as it affects not only my clients business but the banks risk based on the exposure they have with the clients. Getting to see the day to day running of some of my clients businesses it’s a pleasure the biggest challenge is to give clients negative feedback (declined application)
Pros: good company to work for, they give people an opportunity to learn and grow
Cons: the rules and regulations are very strict when it comes to credit applications
A passionate employee, self managed and effective time management
A day at work always interesting because is a new day,a great team player.collaborate well with my team member ,i have learnt about patience with people and that we different in our own ways, customer is the key ,team building always best times because we get to know each other
Pros: we working with respect, intergrity, service, excellency and stewardship.we leave things better than the way we found them
Cons: zero tolerance on non adherance of policies and procedure
