A good learning curve and environment

Working for Aurum is has been a good thing for me.I have learned a lot and the growth there is too much. And being part of the winning team has given a super power that anything is possible if you work together as a team and most important communication. It is a challenging during reporting because we are given a short time to report while we need to report accurate data and accurate data takes time .And changing of reporting indicators also add up in my challenges. I have worked for long here just need to grow myself in a different environment. And experience new challenges and new personal well being.

Pros: I have grown a lot in this industry willing to learn more
Cons: Working in weekends sometimes

Excellent learning opportunity

Working at the Aurum Institute was a great opportunity to learn about health and collecting data from all facilities to see how many people get tested and how many were positive with HIV Aids and with TB. I also learnt how to work with people as a team and with the people who worked at the facilities and got to learn a different language. The difficult part was when the facilities didn't have their data in place or if they just couldn't find the relevant documents we needed in order to collect what we needed. What I loved about the job was that we always had the urge to meet our target and we supported each other as a team.

Pros: You get to travel
Cons: You sometimes have to work night shift

Amazing working environment . Daily challenges . Team work and individual support.

Working at Aurum was challenging in a way that I was placed in clinic facilities where I met different people every day. The challenge of making stats while establishing rapport pushes one to do more in order to balance the quality of service with the expected quantity. I loved that as a counsellor some cases become heavier on you as a person but I recieved support from co workers and the company offered debriefing for such. The part of my job that I absolutely loved was morning educational talks had I continued with Aurum I would have loved to see these morning sessions extended to secondary schools and social clubs. I felt complete and felt I have accomplished something when I succeeded in helping someone view their lifestyle differently. My job was not just about testing HIV and compiling stats, it was about teaching and addressing lifestyle issues related to risky sexual behavior. I would love an opportunity to do this again.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Long working hours

Great Company to work with

My roles include managing staff of about 40 co-workers who include nurses, project coordinator, adherence and retention counselors, enrolled nurses, and community health workers. To ensure technical support to the Department of Health and work closely with the community services team at the district office. I have an open relationship with my co-workers where innovation and expressiveness but practicing respect and empathy is advised. It is very challenging to work for an NGO and deliver indicators needed as the work done depends on DoH stuff and it is mostly hard to get any deliverable with people who do not report directly under me. But when the project does come together and they see the bigger picture, the rewards are great.

Pros: Great opportunity for growth
Cons: Supporting DoH stuff is not very easy as they are resistant to change
