Excellent working opportunity

It's a great company that gives opportunities to youth to further their dreams and working with different airlines is great however the apprenticeship is a top notch because it teaches you discipline and responsibility.

Great learning platform & great exposure to the technical world

I had a quite an excellent learning curve at South African Airways Technical. The exposure you get by getting trained in the actual workshop ,gives one an opportunity to be part of the production team .Being part of such a united team of technicians and also the work relationship I had with my fellow colleagues ( other apprentices) enlightened the importance of team work and communication. There were challenges on meeting a deadline and that's when I acquired the skill of pacing myself in the most effective and efficient way in order to meet daily task deadlines.The highlight of my career was being one of the top students acquiring 97% pass rate in the trade test theory .

Excellent interpersonal skills and analytical skills

Excellent computer MS Office skills,hand tools skills,fault finding skills or troubleshooting skills and analytical skills, I am good in time management, I have ability work with a team also as individual, I have ability to under pressure and deliver high quality work with high level of responsibility.

Pros: It gave me great exposure into electrical industry, also it have advanced my knowledge and skills in electrical engineering

Very comfortable working environment

Customers of different backgrounds, culture and class. Reasons for travel also important,as it gives u an idea how that prefer there device. Safety comes first all the time,and service is what they pay for so give it like u the customer.

Started in September 2013 as aircraft maintenance apprentice and qualified in June 2016.

I work with different systems in SAAT and everyday you learn everything only if you co operate;communicate and work as a team. As an aircraft mechanic you need to be able to work under pressure;manage time and without compromising the safety and airworthiness of the aircraft.Because safety of our passengers is in our hands and judgement.

Pros: only if you put effort and concentration on your job you grow faster in the company.
Cons: Long working hours;shifts and working hard.

Excellent Training

A high pressure environment when it comes to work, colleagues are fighting for the same opportunities and politics start to take over. I learned a lot about aircraft maintenance and I enjoyed interacting with international client and service providers. The most challenging aspect of the job is that Management do not have authority like they used to.

Cons: Bad Salary profiles, Managers are earning less than their subordinates
