Pros: am a hard worker and able to work under pressure

Excellent learning curve

SA Navy is good especially to that person who has the passion of working in the military, my relationship with core workers is smooth,we work as a team every time where is necessary. I have learned a lost technical and self discipline as large. I enjoy when we are hands on, maintaining different boat and ships. The most challenging aspects is that you go home after a long period of time e.g after 12months.

Pros: Great opportunity academically
Cons: Lost of months without seeing my family.

looking for a challenging career

I began my working career as a printer for SA GUAGE where I learnt by using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes. I managed complete installation and commissioning of equipment to ensure correct operation. I am looking for a challenging career in any electrical field (heavy duty) whereby my expertise could be utilized. I believe in ensuring matters related to relevant engineering discipline meets customer requirements and complies with standards and statutory requirements to improve the way things are done in a Company; not only to the advantage of the Company but also for the benefit of the employees.

It's a good organization with good and nice pay

The organization is great company to work for it looks after its people time after time but there are those times when feel so disappointed because of their empty promises. I had a great experience learning new tactics from very kind people. Thank you

Pros: Good
Cons: 8 hours

Perfect platform to establish a career

This is a military environment where standard protocol applies across all processes and procedures. There is little room for innovation as all project are driven from one end, generally takes too long for approval since a particular channel is to be observed and often when it's finally approved the technology is overdue. It is an environment where discipline is highly enforced, it is not an opinionated type of environment and this is understandable due to the core business of this entity. Standard, national and international engineering, logistics philosophical approaches are applicable and like many other entities, resources are at times a challenge but the team goes extra miles to ensure that the organisation's objectives are met. It is a great platform for one to establish his/her career. The organisation invest reasonably good in training its employees, including fully paid tertiary plus overseas studies with full pay.

Pros: Fair opportunity for promotion
Cons: Standard working hours, roster overtime duties and sailing across the globe whenever the opportunity arrive

I am a very friendly person

I have completed my National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. I am interested in working with assertive, well organized and energetic people becausse I am a hard worker willing to work under pressure and teamwork. I am a very friendly person. Working with people within both an office and shop floor environment has equipped me with skills that enhanced me as an individual and to work effectively in challenging conditions where drive and commitment can be used to produce results. The most challenging aspects to work preparing to register in ECSA.

Pros: Very few opportunities for promotions
Cons: 8 hour

Stepping stone for my career

You get to know places and to be disciplined. You get the opportunity to study. Promotion takes time as the navy does not have a bigger structure. When I joined the navy I had no clue about human resources. I was taken to school to do a human resource course that enabled me to work on persol. I learnt about travel requisition, pay, leave, promotion, staffing, medical, recruiting and movement.

Pros: Great opportunity for travelling the world and to learn different cultures
Cons: Taking long time to be promoted

Looking for better opportunities

I have been working for the SANavy for 21years now and am not where I wanted to be. I have graduated with my NDiploma HRM and registered for my Bachelor's degree in Industrial Organisational Psychology. I have just completed my Facilitator/ Assessor/Moderator courses and completing my Skills Development Facilitator Course (SDF). I would love to become a Training Co-Ordinator or Training Evaluator with a better salary. I am a people's person. My work colleagues come often to me for advise on a career /work/or professional level. I am a workaholic. I believe in finishing any given task at the shortest possible time. I am a perfectionist and I believe in doing things right the first time and moving on to the next task at hand

Pros: Good Environment if you love helping and teaching others.
Cons: No promotion
