Change in enviroment/industry

The company administers medical aids and there are different departments and medical aids. Gems Chronic medicine management is where I work within the organization as Gems has 12 different service providers that help administer the servicing of the Gems members a government Medical aid. I come in and work and 1 hour earlier to assist the team (co-workers) that can’t make there shift starting 8am. This is arranged with line management as my working hours is 9am till 5pm. It’s an Inbound Call Centre so I handle/manage telephone queries within the standards and the service levels agreements. Patients/Customer calls in and checks his/her status in respect of the chronic medication application or updates (renewals or changes in script). Check if all required documents is received as per regulation and that we comply with the Operational risk and governance structure, measures and framework. Routing escalations to correct departments and assist were needed especially to resolve problems & escalations.

Pros: Growth within the admin space
Cons: I dont work on a Saterday. I'm a Sabbath Keeper

Exxcellent learning curve

Was employed by my previous company for 4 and half years and due to retrenchment was moved to current company on a 12 month fixed term contract to manage the wind down process due to amalgamation. Typical work day would be to review applications and blood results for programme management and all telephonic counselling I have a good relationship with my co-worker. One thing I've learned that you job is never secure so don't take it for granted. Give it your 100% all of the time. What I enjoy most about my job is the inter action with our members and very rewarding to know that you have made a difference in somebody's life. The most challenging aspect is not the work itself but the fact the I am on contract only

Pros: Im not sure what the pros are as I am not a permanent employee
Cons: no job security

My passion is to help others

Training new and existing agents Assist with difficult queries regarding chronic applications and escalations. Preparing training material and monthly product knowledge assessments. Evaluating agents calls and data capturing files done by them. I am working with people on a daily basis assisting them on the call centre, and capturing files I have regular one on one coaching sessions I must interact with them on a daily basis Work very well with them I always put myself in their shoes when it comes to a query but making use of SOP and clinical guidelines as a professional guide to complete query. Every person is not the same when it comes to learning. Some take longer than others but you need to assist everyone by using different techniques I enjoy assisting agents with their queries and doing training new staff The most challenging aspect of my job is when someone has difficulty understanding the query if there is a language barrier

Pros: growth
Cons: working late

Shocking BA governance

Good as an entry level corporate company but not really good for growth. The corporate culture is not good, especially when it comes to change. Everyone works for themselves and not the greater good for the organisation.

Pros: Flexiable working hours
Cons: No proper project SDLC

Excellent learning curve

Best company to work for and I've learned so much in the 9 years that I've worked there. I also enjoyed working with a team of project managers who valued my input. The work environment was also very cool and relaxed.

Pros: I enjoyed everything about my job
Cons: Long working hours as I would even work after hours at home

Pros: opportunity to learn and grow
Cons: staff shortages and turnover of staff are a concern
