Lancet Laboratories Reviews

Great experience gained

I was based in an area that was always busy no matter what time of day it was. We all work together as a team to try and do as much as we could so nothing is left for the night staff admin when he/she arrives. I built a great relationship with each and every person I worked with. They were easy to talk to, always willing to lend a helping hand and always happy. I have learnt to be a stronger person and take things as it comes. Take things one step at a time and in the end it will all work out. Always be happy and don't involve anyone in your personal life. Whatever you going through remain strong and believe in the almighty. I believe that most challenging part is that the patient is always right no matter what. Dealing with difficult patients that dont allow you to explain but rather walk over you and want to be right.

Pros: Good company to work for
Cons: Odd working hours

Learning curve

I love working for Lancet and I love my job. I am a well-spoken lady and a team player. I can also work on my own without the supervision when I have to. I am capable of achieving high results when task given. I enjoy problem solving and queries. I'm good in following up with the queries. The lab has taught me to work under pressure, when working in the lab environment every second, minute and every hour is critical because the results are expected the minute the sample leave to come to us. I have a good relationship with my co-workers. Respect is the key to a good relationship in a workplace. I have learnt to not take things at heart, I have learnt to be patience, I have learnt to not judge. The most challenging aspect of my job was for me getting home late and sometimes I don't get to see my kids. I leave early and come back late because of the 12 hours shift.

Pros: I can handle any challenges
Cons: There isn't growth and long hours.

Everyday is a learning day at lancet

Working at lancet makes you looking at the world differently as we deal with sick patients everyday and making sure their doctors get the results on time meeting new people and building new relationship everyday, the people I work with are a family we work hand in hand and starve to be better everyday. Ive learnt that life is too short to be unhappy and lancet has thought me that. I've enjoyed being part off something that made or makes a differents in someone's life like someone finding out the having a baby that joy in there eyes is priceless. The most chellenaging part off my job was making sure everything was done before I got off work that I didn't forget anything I would go over and over my notes just too make sure I did my best.

Pros: not so much
Cons: loved working

Good learning and listening skills, always willing to learn new things,

I am a young highly motivated individual whom always thrives to get positive outcome of any situation I find myself in. I have a positive attitude which makes me see positivity where some might have given up. I am time cautious and well focused therefore have leant to plan my things so I don't find myself stranded. Working in a laboratory has given me knowledge of the meditech systems and taught me to deal with different individuals of different backgrounds. This had taught me to be a hood listener and therefore being able to come up with quick solutions of positive outcome whenever a challenge comes up.

Pros: Gives much room for growth
Cons: Long working hours

.

A typical day at work includes logging patients details on the system, receiving the information and shipping the relevant samples. Relationships with my colleagues are more work related than anything else. I learn new things every other day and how to do things differently than i normaly would. I enjoy the learning process the most. The most challenging aspect is getting used to the long hours infront of the computer screen and being precise, accurate and fast at the same time.

Pros: Learn new tipes of tests
Cons: Long working hours

To always do things right fist time.

I stated working as a qualified medical technologist in 2009 at Sebokeng NHLS, then I was transfered to Tambourine Memorial NHLS where I work as chemistry supervisor and got back to sebokeng NHLS. After three years with NHLS I went to join Ampath laboratories where I worked as a senior technologist another three years, I spent most of my time working night shift at the company. In 2016 I joined lancet which is my current employer and I became a lab manager at Sebokeng lancet. Being a lab manager has taught me how to deal with customers and to handle pressure in a a positive way.

Pros: The opportunities are minimal
Cons: 12 hour shifts

Great place to work

I love working with number. i look forward to a typical day at work because I do a lot of adhoc reporting. Lancet has given me many opportunities and i have come as far as i cam. I have build an excellent team over the years. The most challenging is the limited resources.

Pros: great culture
Cons: opportunities are limited without biomedical degree
