Health Systems Trust Reviews

I am currently studying with UNISA and I believe that will add more value to my work experience.

- My organisation requires you to b enthusiastic and positive and bring all your energy in order to survive the day. - Prioritise your tasks, on a day you would have plans written in your diary, and only to realise when you get to the office that there is a lot more that is more urgent that your written notes on your diary. - I have good relations with my colleagues, and even with management. - Working for HST has thought me a lot about being a team player, but at the same time, be able to do your job diligently and be a self-orientated person. - I mostly enjoy working for my current organisation is being able to learn new aspects about my job and the working environment at large. - For the organisation to be able to take the initiative to challenge you as the employee by introducing new tasks and those that you never thought would be able to accomplish in your lifetime. I also appreciate the trust and belief that management has on me.

Pros: The great opportunity to get promotion at HST if you are always willing to learn more about the organisation and your job as an Administrator or even beyond.
Cons: At times you would be required to work long hours where necessary, e.g late senior executive meeting where you are required to provide administration assistance

A community building experience of a life time

Greetings. I am currently employed on a 1 year then a 6month contract ending in August 2018, by a N.g.o called Health systems trust. Where i work with HIV pacients @ a local clinic as admin staff/data capturer. Together with the permanent clinic staff we aim in ensurring that all pacients recieve top-class health care! I also then trace lost pacients, via cellphone call, sms & email daily, making sure they still recieve our services from home. I believe this experience has helped me excell in my communicating skills with clients, as i also have to relay and report all my work to the provincial office so they can monitor my progress within the facility. The above job position is perfect for me to further develope my skills bt working in a different company on a more permanent basis where i can have the chance to grow! As my current job is not secure as contracts can be terminated at any moment! Thank you.

Pros: Monthly pay is above minimum wage
Cons: no job security

A very good opportunity

Day's work , was great since we only work 5 days in a week excluding public holidays, we always happy with my colleague because we treat each other respectively, I also learnt more on how to work with the community, I enjoyed the most training they gave to us. The most challenging part was from our clients, it very difficult for them to understand more about our project.

Pros: Great job
Cons: Sometimes we work a very long working hours

Great platform for innovation

A typical working day involves planning ahead in terms of which clinic facilities are to be visited. Making a phone call to aclinic facility to be visited to confirm an appointment of that day. It also involves planning around company cars as we travel in pairs to different allocated clinic facilities. If the appointment for the day gets cancelled, I need to find a way to execute a different task at the same facility. These tasks range from direct service delivery with clients to providing technical assistance or mentoring to nurses and data capture working mostly on HIV/TB programs. It can be clinical audits of clinical files to assess quality of service delivery that is in accordance with clinical guidelines and policies.

Pros: Great environment for innovation and to learn new things almost on daily basis.
Cons: The tide to work under pressure is high

Enhancing thorough knowledge about chronic diseases

Working in various provinces coordinating health research projects in public Clinics & Hospitals,at times we work in remote rural ares where health facility patients hardly understands the importance of health research & our Fieldworkers have to explain in detail in order for them to participate in surveys,& perhaps they would want to be compensated or paid for taking part in research surveys.Forgetting that whatever we do is to try & improve the health standards in public health facilities. What I have learnt is HIV/aids is not a death sentence it can be managed as long as one takes ARVs,& that there is a close relationship between TB & HIV/Aids.I enjoy interacting with people from all works of life, sharing their experiences, being able to educate them about the importance of looking after their health. Sometimes we work in places where there is no/poor Internet coverage which makes it a bit difficult to give daily report to my head office.

Pros: Promoting great healthcare in public Hospitals, coordinating research projects in very sensitive studies such as HIV,TB etc
Cons: Deadline-driven environment, dealing with people who have chronic ailments, interacting with Department Of Health Research Committee

Platform for growth

Working for HST has been a good learning curve for me. I have learnt to engage with various stakeholders at various levels and obtain but in even in almost impossible areas. I have worked under pressure to meet targets without regrets. There are opportunities to learn on the job and my moving across projects within the company has helped me to learn a lot on in the process. working without or with minimal situation has helped me to grow responsibly and in informed decision-making. I have acquired a lot of risk management and mitigation skills. Behind a perfectionist has sometimes tarnished relationships with the subordinates as I often expect them to perform their best and in most cases they do not have the required work ethic or do not understand the urgency.

Pros: Flexibility to move to different positions within the company
Cons: Long working hours and having to macro-manage staff
