Gijima Reviews

Very Friendly EndUsers

I usually come in a work early, check the early morning incidents or requests, then contact users i couldnt reach the day before. I would then attend to my allocated calls and assist colleagues where neccessary. Our Manager comes in a bit later so I assign the calls before he arrives. My company is Gijima but we're contracted to Reserve Bank. I love that there is a gym here i can attend after hours, and the users are mostly very friendly.

Pros: Great communication between manager and technician
Cons: Lack of resources when required to perform optimally.

Workday at Gijima.

MA typical workday for me would be to start work at 7am. Check outstanding calls and perform the relevant daily health checks on customers who had a SLA in place. As from 8am the calls from customers and onsite engineers would have to be attended to. 75 to 80% of the day would be spent on handling calls and resolving remotely. Periodically calls would have to be escalated to vendor or 4th line support. It would also be expected of me to compile technical documentation on selected products for distribution to field engineers. Another role expected of me would be to provide training on the products that I take ownership of

Pros: Opportunity to learn and grow
Cons: Regular after hours work

Financial Adminstrator

I am an ambitious Financial Administrator looking to progress into a senior financial/Accounting position. Having developed communication skills when working closely with management, I’ve nurtured successful working relationships. As a result, I possess an advantageous professional network.

Pros: Great learning curve

Excellent working environment

I work from 8 to 4pm, in a group of 5 people including my mentor. I only work with ASP.NET MVC 5 at this stage and other interns work with other 2 other interns work with other languages. I manly work to fix bugs on an existing system or add more functionality to it. There's not much to do so most of time i focus on support of the system. I have learnt ASP.NET because its the first time i do it, i had to learn to read code and work on someone elses project. I enjoy working within a group of developers and developing applications. What is challenging here is that i work alone and there's not enough help around because we all doing different things. So it takes me a bit long to fix a bug and work around it.

Pros: Great IT company
Cons: not doing enough programming which i want to do.

Excellent learning

I am an intern at department of education placed by Gijima. am working under system support where am engaging with different users which is more interesting because i learn to be patient and to understand that people are not the same . i help them with everything the encounter on their desktop or printers . some of the printers are very challenging and i learn to know that printers are not the same and also is the computers when it comes to installation of windows and softwares. i work with different employees and our relationship is good because we work as a team and we help each other when we encounter any problem that needs to be fixed.

Pros: working very hard and enjoying every second of it
Cons: we are working for 8 hours monday to friday

Excellent learning curve

Daily operations / helpdesk management, provide team support and screen all calls. Be a team player, ultimately field staff supports the contracts to ensure SLA is met. In general the team very helpful across the company. Customer service, attending to incidents on time as clients need to be fully operational. Challenging at times not being able to provide the support due to staff compliment and vast area to cover. Difficult to keep staff motivated due to no salary increases for a while, has a serious impact on their already poor financial situation.

Pros: Great company, good people.
Cons: No salary increases for a while
