Excellent learning curve

I have learn so much from this department, from finance side, projects and Monitoring and Evaluation side. i also had opportunity to go for site visiting so my experience don't not only apply in the Office only but also outside the office. Verification also gave me opportunity to know more about what is actually happening from different branches in the department of Rural development and land reform.

Good

Working long hours, filling sheet, going to meetings every months. Induction and training. Playing games. Teamwork. Chilling in golf club. Going to medical test.

To do presentation on class for cop training to working staff for the department

Excellent learning curve,Improved excel skills,Reporting skills

Compiling different reports for our stake-holders,dealing with audit findings both from internal audit and auditor general especially after verification period and after submiting the departmet quarterly perfomance to National Tresury and the Department of Planning Monitoring And Evaluation(DPME) I am working with excellent people who like doing their job to the fullest capacity and will go the extra mile for us to get the job done. I have learnt that all of us,we need to play our part and bring our skills to the table to help the department and hopefully protect the department's image. I enjoy dealing with Audit request,Audit essues so they dont develop into a finding(s). During verification when braches bring their perfomance on departmenta programs/indicators for verification because figures change from time to time so we need to amend our perfomance information.

Great learning exposure

I am still in a learning curve since I am an Intern. But I have gained so much practical knowledge and thus leading me to ,make a meaningful contribution to the organisation. I am eager to learn more especially in the private sector. I have formed good relationship with my colleagues, in all the different components. We also have contact outside of work in order to build a solid relations. In March I attended a course for Persal, the system used in Government organisation for service conditions for all employees. Gained knowledge regarding the Performance management department, how to assess the employees' performance and rewarding them. In the Recruitment and Selection department I was exposed to in knowing how to shortlist and sit in for interviews. I enjoyed travelling in all KZN District, working long hours and interviewing candidates for a project named NARYSEC. The challenges I face when the PERSAL system is not working it is hard to capture and keep data up to date.

Review summary in the department

To ensure for the provision of a single point of contact for Clients to log, track, manage, resolve, escalate and close incidents reported to the Service Desk and thereby ensure that the Service Desk meets the required Standards and Measures. I work 8 hours from 08:00 to 16:30 , I have good relationship with co-workers, I have learned a lot since I joined the department because I am supporting national, I enjoy the fact that I am challenged everyday

Excellent

Department of Rural Development and Land Reform is a such vibrant workplaces one of my duties was on recruitment, selection and Labour relation. Preparing for interview. , appointing employees on persal and preparing for misconduct if any. Other duties was on service condition and PMDS. My relationship with my colleagues was excellent, we communicate professional. I have learnt alot because when I was appointed I only have knowledge of books from university now I know all recruitment process practical so. I enjoyed working with my colleagues because we worked as team everything we did as a team

I HAVE NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT WHICH IS LEAD ME TO LOVE MY CAREER. I AM HARD WORKER AND OBVIOUSLY I CAN WORK UNDER PRESSURE AND LONG HOURS, I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH MY MENTOR WELL BECAUSE I MAINTAIN HEALTH RELATIONSHIP WITH MY COLLEAGUES AND CUSTOMER IN ORDER TO OBTAIN CO-OPERATION EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVELY DELIVERY AND I UNDERSTAND DIFFERENT BETWEEN DEADLINE AND URGENT.I ENJOYED TO WORK IN ACCOUNT PAYABLE WITH CHECKING ALL TRAVEL AND SUBSTANCES CLAIMS FOR COMPLETENESS AND CORRECTIONS AND SUBMIT FOR AUTHORIZATION AND MOST CHALLENGING ASPECTS THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED ON THAT S&T, ONE OF MY COLLEAGUE WAS ACCUSING ME WITH THAT I HAVE HIS CLAIM ON MY DESK SO MY LIFE WAS EASY BECAUSE I HAVE INCOME AND OUTGOING REGISTER MANUAL AND ELECTRONICALLY SO AFTER THAT I DID CHECK IT ON MY REGISTER SO ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT HE DIDN'T SUBMIT IT SO IT SHOWS THAT WITH RECORDS YOU WORK ARE SMOOTH AND NICELY.

Proper experience and knowledge gained

i learnt to respect my co-workers, supervisors and entire management. due to work together with those diverse stakeholders much experience and enhancement of knowledge have been gained throughout this journey.

Pros: being promoted is not yet mentioned
Cons: we work normaland abnormal hours due to unforseen cercumstances.

Interesting

I enjoy working and networking with people from different backgrounds that's why I had a good relationship with my co-workers. Each day I have something to learn and I enjoy that. Participating in tasks and in ateam is the most thing I enjoy doing. I have not found any challenges yet.
