Excellent Learning Curve

Interesting learning and character growth experience. The Department of Defence teaches self discipline in every aspect of life. I mostly enjoy the travelling experiences and exposure to cultural diversity.

Great learning opportunities.

Excellent place for empowering ourselves, but not so good when it comes to financial growth and stability. I need new challenges and growth. My immediate supervisor has good management skills and I learned that, with good manager even if workers are not happy with employer they still pull their weight.

Pros: Good opportunity for learning and improve working ethics.
Cons: Being shouted by co-workers.

Got to experience working in a team

I am an admitted Advocate who is currently working as an Enrolled Nurse in 1 Military Hospital. I have been working for Department of Defence for a period of more than 10 years. Though i enjoy working with people sometimes it can be emotionaly draining as people would expect me to do tge impossible. I would really appreciate to be afforded an opportunity to apply my legal knowledge into practise

Pros: Disciplined working enviroment
Cons: Long working hours and working shifts

Time management, Work well under pressure and being able to have a positive impact on the workflow

It is always and previlidge waking up every morning to do work for the Department of Defence. It is a huge organisation to work for and comes with a lot of pressure and demands with it having to work with different mindsets and opinions. That makes me grow as a creative having to learn and polish up my skills by considering how to do work or go a different path with different clients, now I am able to become familiar with the Department of Defence and SANDF environment and learnt that my creative contribution has a positive impact on the workflow. I have also learnt that I work pretty well with the creative team as much as I can alone and I have developed my Layout capabilities.

Pros: I have the confidence that I can be an asset to any company and be able to handle big accounts to deal with clients personally.
Cons: To be working with one project for over three weeks reason being by the clients having to realise their grammar, spelling mistakes or regular changes of titles which kill time.

New and exciting project

Electronic Monitoring Experience Elecrtonic monitoring of offenders that are out on parole, interaction and liasation with rhem and officers of the Correstional Services. Team work orientated and multotasking as you moght receive a call while in the middle of case. Good interpersonal skills from colleagues and it is easy when you have planned ahead your day schedule. The challenging part is when Officers of the correctional service do not understand our procedure, but with good knowledge of the project we overcome most issues.

Pros: Growth
Cons: Nightshift

Honestly speaking chances of growh are very limited

Not too bad just that the chances of growth are very limited. I've learnt a lot since I joined the department but I just don't see myself climbing the ladder if I remain here

Pros: You end up knowing more abt military
Cons: No growth at all

Excellent learning environment

Typical work day is 24/7 and is not always in an office environment. Long periods of deployments away from home up to 12 months at a time. Very hierarchical.

Pros: Exellent exposure to various working conditions and different parts of the world
Cons: no constant working hours
