Indeed it is an excellent leaning curve with challenges everyday

Days are not the same but the productive ones are those where we have to work as a team to prevent or solve a major breakdown in time.My skills grow daily thanks to my seniors whom are grooming me into one of the best millwrights i can ever be.I enjoy everyday at work because i given the opportunity to prove my skills everyday. i love my co-workers we get along so well i feel like we all have leadership skills, well some do have their bad days but we do talk about them to avoid spoiling our shift. The best most challenging time is when we encounter a major breakdown and a deadline. Everyone of us must communicate, plan and all come up with a solution that will make all of us happy. helping each other and executing what needed to be executed. I have learnt a lot i must say and i thank them . I would stay if the company was not going through a strain.

Pros: You will definitely learn a lot.
Cons: It can get too hot or too cold

Challenging environment, excellent learning curve

The most challenging aspect of my job is the pressure, how one needs to continuously adapt to everyday challenges on projects vs production and the demand of the business. There's always a pool of engineering projects available in the Quality Engineering department I work at. Quality, Excellence and on-time delivery is of outmost importance. Priorities always changing according to the demand of the business.

Pros: Great exposure
Cons: Perception of the people is that quality control/engineering is policing. So it's most of the time production against quality.

No opportunities

Shifts are harmful to the body and you don't rest enough, gas we using is damaging our lungs and if you are on contract like myself you have no medical Aid no opportunities and the reminder of permanent employees that you are a contractor annoys period.

Pros: No opportunities
Cons: Long working shifts

Good opportunities and learning more

Big company having more opportunities to learn and grow through my career stream and nice people to work with the company have more exposure towards working and building experience but again it has less job opportunities

Gain sufficient technical knowledge and looking to advance myself going forward.

Busy most of the day due to aging plant. Good working relationship with colleagues. Gained sufficient experience on Heavy current Equipment and working processes of the plant. I enjoy the technical aspects of my field as it becomes more interesting when you understand it. Breakdowns can be challenging sometimes requiring me to work up to 24 hours a shift in order to rectify the problem as soon as possible. Preventative maintenance is key to prevent major breakdowns and improve plant availability. Training and supervising apprentices and learner Technicians. Providing and suggesting innovative solutions to superiors.

Pros: Excellent learning experience.
Cons: Company looking to retrench due poor financial output.

Pros: Great opportunity to study further
Cons: Long hours
