Mining industry
The mining industry is one of the biggest industries in the country but due to the changes and economic challenges our company has taken a decision to down size. It is therefore evident that we the employees are facing the risks of being retrenched in the near future. The company however is in communication with potential buyers who will be taking over the operations in due course. The uncertainty is not a healthy situation hence my decision to apply for work to your company.
Pros: I am done with my Post Graduate Diploma and will stand a chance for promotion depending on the retrenchment process.

I've learn a lot at Anglogold ashanti and it was good to for a company like anglogold. And my relationship with my co-workers was very good. My manager was supportive at all times and that makes me happy. Whenever the network was down, it was a huge challenge.
Pros: There was a room for promotion.
Cons: Some times we work overtime.

Great company!
AngloGold Ashanti provided a brilliant foundation to build a successful career in the engineering industry. Moving from the training phase to the operational phase of employment was seamless as a result of comprehensive development. Significant skill and effort is required on a daily basis to ensure that KPIs are met. Team spirit is encouraging however the culture may viewed to be very harsh by those who have not experienced the mining industry. I have taken numerous learnings from my time in this company as it has given me experiences that has grown me to be technically, culturally and organizationally diverse and adaptable.
Pros: Value based company with significant exposure to training and development
Cons: Most employees provide critical services therefore you are required to provide high quality performance for long periods of time which can put strain on your personal life

Learning many mining activities and have many challenges
Working in such a huge industry is a challenge, I learned to work with different people. Did different job fields, multi skill is my game.Work on different instrumentation brands and types.we have good work relationships and team work.safety is our first value at work and home.

Learning about ISO14001.
Environmental management at big mining company. Water use licence applications at different business units. Good working culture. Travelling between different business units and assisting them in environmental management plans. Challenges are working in a production environment where the environment is not high priority.

I like working in AP
i learn to be patient with my coworks assist them with recons not balancing. every day i learn something new in SAP that can help me in getting my work done faster. i love to work according to my daily set time management. the most challengingpart of my job is getting all my work completed before the dead lines. I grew up in a mining comunity and it was great to learn the financial part of mining and how long process it is to constract gold from ore that can be later created in a ring .
Pros: will be send for courses to become a supervisor, time management ecr.
Cons: have to work late if deadlines not make.

Good exposure for career as well as personal development
My typical work day includes responding to and process requests from the different business units. These requests include psychometric assessment, Training & Development, and integrated management reports on assessment results. I offer support to the different business units in as far human behavior concerns, ranging from issues of safety, discipline, psycho-social support and productivity/performance. Other additional tasks include being involved in the recruitment and selection processes. What I enjoy most about my role is the people development aspect, and how I use my psychology background and psychometric assessments to help people map out their development paths. The challenging part about my role is the limited scope and hoe work can quickly become routine and the lack of challenge.
