I am currently working 4 by 5 shifts of 12 hours. During off days I am requested to be on standby. One shift consist of seven personnel whom we work well as a shift and individually. The most interesting aspect of this job is the opportunity granted to me from time to time to act as a shift supervisor and run the shift. We are encouraged to perform every duty as safely as possible because safety is our number one priority.

work day: daily morning meeting with artisans to discuss work and safety, call production personnel to see if they any emergencies except planned work. Do inspections and then daily planned work. relationship: everyone is a team player lessons learned: sticking to company policies & procedures will always lead everyone to the right direction and purpose of the company. Enjoy most: I take delight in solving emerging problems especially during our shutdown time. challenging aspects: Our shutdown time, because one everyone in a team have to take responsibility of a number of people from service provider and their safety including problems they will encounter.
Pros: you develop yourself to apply for open position- no promotios
Cons: I do long working hours during my standby and shutdowns or breakdowns.

ITS WAS GOOD WORKING AT SASOL BECOUSE I HAD TO LEARN A LOT AND MEET NEW EXPERIANCED PEOPLE,I AM A GOOD TEAM PLAYER SO MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MI CO WORKERS WAS PERFECT WE GOT ALONG JUST FINE AT WORK AND OUT SIDE WORK,I HAVE LEARNED A LOT AS I STARTED AS A PROCESS LEARNER I HAD TO MEET MORE EXPERIENCED PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR SASOL OVER 30 YEARS AND LEARNED A LOT FROM THEM,I ENJOYED BEEN PART OF THE TEAM THE MOST AND THERE UNDERSTANDING AS I WAS A LEARNER AND MORE THE WAY WE WORKED TOGETHER TO EXECUTE PROBLEMS AND PROBLEM SOLVING AS A TEAM,THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECTS AT MY JOB WAS WHEN I WAS JUST SITTING NOT WORKING AS I AM A WORKERHOLIC I REALY HATE SITTING AT WORK AND DOING NOTHING .

A GOOD LEARNING CURVE AND EXPIRIENCE GAINED
HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH MY TEAM. I HAVE LEARNED A LOT IN PROCESSES OF THE PLANT AND PETROCHEMICAL ENVIRONMENT. WORKING NIGHT SHIFT AT TIMES IS CHALLENGING. I ENJOYING WORKING WITH MY TEAM. IT HAS ALSO TAUGHT ME A LOT WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY.

Excellent learning curve
My experience at Sasol was a fun exciting one though with an unfortunate time duration. A year spent with the Sasol team has taught me vital skills as to how to become a proefficient team player by managing time and ensuring a safe working environment at the same time. Learning how to operate vast pieces of equipment with the kids use of DCS was an excellent function which I enjoyed most. The only challenge I faced was baring too much responsibility which was an obligation towards each and every employee. I had to get used to being fully responsible and having zero excuses.

Good development area for young graduate engineers

To undesrtand what our customer needs
every morning I would check all the product that was done the previous day or previous night and take the product out of quality inspection. have the moment of safety with my subordinates and plan the day and explains any customer complains or special samples to the Lab might received on that particular day. attend Operations meeting to give the over view of the Lab and the issues that we might have. The relation with the co-workers is in a professional relationship where one knows there role and responsibilities. I have learnt that the internal customers are very important and must be informed about the progress of their samples. I enjoy solving problems by looking at the root cause of the problems. Most challenging aspects is the warehouse management system on SAP
