Durban University of Technology Reviews

A good experience

My company was the Campus Clinic, I was arranging events for fundraising as the NGO company. Request for sponsor's to the companies, draft letters and send it via emails and make calls. Events Management, set the venue Attend national meetings and do Slides presentations to the staff and the manager. Designing invites for our guests and brochures and posters. Write media release My relationship with my staff and the boss was real good I was always gives them a respect as the young person. I learnt a lot, to be more confidence about what you doing, to work with different people and faced with job issues. I enjoyed outreach programmes to meet diversity people, communicate with them. The most challenged aspects to to find sponsors for the events and the disappointments.

Pros: Work under pressure

My current role

My current role as a Cost Analyst has been eye opening for me. It moved me from a accounting focused profile to a capacity where I am able to view the organisation in its entirety. I am able to interact with both the academic and non academic sectors. Understand operations in other key areas. Participating departmental strategic plans to presenting financial models to non-financial Managers / Deans and Directors. Through these interactions I am able to learn and view departments not just from a financial view but also as a strategic component of the University.

Pros: Great levels of interaction from junior right up to executive management
Cons: Limited Growth options

Excellent learning

it is good to work there but there is too much work at the beginning of the year because the whole university becomes busy with registration, and the staff is so racist you find that in one department there is only blacks/whites/Indians , but if you know what you want you become used to it. what i learnt is that never say someone is abusing you when you are new at work because in most cases you find that they are helping you by teaching you how things are done.

Pros: you study for free if you are a staff member
Cons: long hours

Before I became a lawyer I worked in tertiary education.

I enjoy my work and working with my colleagues. I have a good line manager. My job is not challenging. I love the law and I am a qualified advocate with Bar exams. I am disappointed that I am not in the legal sector at the present time.

Pros: my line manager and colleagues are good people and I enjoy working with them
Cons: I am not working in the legal sector for which I am qualified. I am not earning to my full potential

Excellent Learning

I would like to apply for the above post as advertised in Indeed. I believe that I have the background and experience to make a significant contribution to the company in this position. The opportunity presented is very interesting, I believe that my strong technical experience and education will make me a very competitive candidate for this position. With National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry and B-Tech Chemistry, I have a full understanding of being a Lab Technician as I have been a Trainee at Associated Additives for 12months. And also worked as a Lab Assistant at Durban University of Technology. However, I would very much like to return to industry where I feel my skills and experience could be used more effectively and I would welcome the opportunity of working in this position. I can be reached anytime via my cell number, 0721974155 or via email at mlindoh94@gmail.com Sincerely Potential employee Lindokuhle Manyoni

Cons: Contract
