A typical work day which covers all four disciplines in the directorate
Highly demanding environment as our core function is social services so our clients are Social Workers and their demands are both psychological and emotional. There is always room for growth if you are willing to stretch beyond your core duties as you are exposed to diverse social demands. Colleagues are continually making enquiries to confirm policy amendments and updates to ensure compliance. There is always a celebration when a matter is closed positively with no financial implications. Welcoming new recruits and seeing their burning desire to get their hands dirty with work!

Excellent learning curve
A day at work is never the same. My hours vary from a minimum of 2 hours to 12 hours per day depending on the requirements of the client. I don't spend much time in the office as my job requires me to be on the road all the time. Workplace culture is always welcoming. The most enjoyable part of the job is watching the children and parents interacting with each other and the hardest part is having to take the children back to the caregivers Never a dull day working at Department of Social Development as you tackle some of the country’s most pressing issues of poverty, homelessness and social inclusion. The nature of the work will motivate you and inspire you as you work towards a common goal that truly matters. Content of the work aside, DSD truly has a warm and inclusive culture and gives you the opportunity to develop yourself.

Excellent learning experience
Ensuring suppliers are paid within 30days; Distribute Payrolls Work on Projections Monthly Budget meetings Capture claims on system. I well very well with co-workers from different levels. I have learnt to work with people from different backgrounds; communication is very important to both internal and external clients. Working with people is what I enjoy most; when someone leaves my office and I managed to assist or refer the person.

IT Technical support
I love working at Department of Social Development because it helped me gain experience as an IT Technician and working as Hel-desk support Technician. The most challenging part was to gain their trust when working with computers as a new guy but my solution to this when I attend users I attended with the old employees and let them introduce me because they have experience and they trust them and that worked for me The most interesting part for me was doing my job and overcoming challenges and meet their expectations and also gaining more exposure and receiving emails of appreciation from different employees of different levels My relationship with co-workers was very solid and always involved problem solving in different tasks and treated each other with respect an eventually became a good team that works well together

Working under immense pressure and learning a lot in the from what i do each and every day.
Most days are quiet, but when the server goes down and we have to work tirelessly that's when the pressure builds. We work with different kinds of people which most users don't have the basic computer literacy skills and we need patience when dealing with them. The challenges of the job is the dinosaur infrastructure we have at the department.

Has learned to work idependatley
My typical work day its very busy since I'm stationed in a very busy clinic surrounded by schools and many villages.I handle all sorts of cases to name a few rape cases,people defaulting on treatment for chronic conditions.Handling disputes in schools between learners and also disputes between educators.

I am a young Lady who knows what she wants,i love working with group of people(team work) i am more humble soul,respecting and i live by the code of love...I enjoy helping people, i am innovative and very social, id like to go to work as early as i can work everything that i should help where i can and do my job as i should,people love me becouse i am easy to get to know,i am a peoples person,usualy most people who feel they want to talk personal stuff would come to me, i have learnt from my previous exprience that a work place its like a family where love should be build and respect should be given to each and every person regardless of possisions every person is importand and humbleness,submition will get u far...i enjoy having a problem and getting to solve that problem asap,my most challenging times was when i want to do my work but becouse its supply chain management you found that you being delayed by someone else in the line and you cant do anything about it.
