New Begginnings

Hi, I love working at the Blackheath WaterTreatment Plant, I work with fantastic colleagues who I can easily communicate with and get along with. What I enjoy about working here is that we are not put under a lot of stress and pressure, our work gets done timeously and management gives us a lot of support and assistance. the only time we are challenged is when payments for chemicals needs done and we having pc issues as well as when its month en and Overtime must be completed, Working here is awesome with this fantastic view. very relaxing. hope to hear from you soon

Pros: stability
Cons: growth

Great opportunity for entry level persons

I have a great relationship with my co workers as I am an open and bubbly person! We respect each other's religions and cultures. I have learnt to deal with an immense amount of pressure, and coping with meeting deadlines. I enjoyed planning events for the company! Not really the office "4 walls all day" type! the most challenging part was sometimes the quiet times.. it gets lonely!!

Pros: getting to meet important people and working with them
Cons: no room for growth

Career development

Very interesting finance section with a lot of deadlines. Always working under pressure. I have learnt a lot of financial admin and liasing with cost centre managers increased my communication skills.

Pros: Career development
Cons: lots of deadlines

I dont think i suppose to be where I am now and currently i m busy with Pblic Admin and management

Firstly, I have learn a lot and with my qualification and experience I thought by now I will be very far. I was one of the constables to obtain national diploma in policing in 2009 but I was only promoted 2015 /2016.It is only few sections that I did nt work with in the department because I wanted to familiarise myself with everything in the department. The section that I am with now I am enjoying a lot because I am hands on with the community to make change in someone`s life. The most challenging part is to work without a budget and also to be led by non experienced people and to work with people with negative attitude.

Pros: No opportunities for growth .I was a connstable for 14 years.
Cons: 8 hour shift with one weekend a month

Working for the City of Cape Town

The days vary from busy to quiet, its how you deal with your workload and pressure. The co-workers are amazing! we all respect one another's cultures and differences, you do however get a few rotten apples out of the bunch, again, it is how you deal with the situation. I have learnt to become more open minded and driven. I enjoy working with a diverse group of people, always open to learning! Some challenges are the people, not everyone does that they are expected to do, so it kind of makes your job difficult.

Pros: Great exposure
Cons: Limited opportunities

No

Typical workday included liaising with internal and external clients from all departments Working hours are great for parent (flexible to a degree) Good working relationship with co workers all around Put everything in an email/writing as it prevents a lot of problems in the long getting the job done to the best of your ability and when a client is happy at the end of the day with the service you have provided The fact that the process is just that and getting the job done is a process that is not always done by one person, which causes delays beyond your control

Pros: medical aid / pension /bonus
Cons: No career advancement unless you apply for a position within the organisation / Processes that involve more than one person / department therey by causing delays
