I am currently a contract employer at The City Of Cape Town in the Health Department. I have been working 12 months.This was the best working experience ever , if i could become permanent it would be a dream come true. Unfortunetly my contract ends at the end of June 2017. The people in this department is amazing , friendly , helpful and willing to teach , train and share there knowlegde with your.They are supportive and real team players

Good learning experience
Good learning experience although the work maybe monotonous but you learn something new each day. Good working hours. Working with very knowledgeable and experienced people that can apply by-laws. Not much of a culture exists but it’s okay to your work going and social life. Friendly environment and flexible mangament.
Pros: Great opportunity to look into other departments

Growth opportunities are not based on what you do.
Coming from the Insurance Industry to the Municipal world of business has been one big eye opener and learning curve. The City is a good employer but development and change management is very slow. The slow response to change and development is frustrating at times but my work has its up-side as I get to work with people from all walks of life and making a difference for them makes it rewarding. Making a difference in peoples lives and helping people is always good. Knowledge sharing and ensuring people are informed makes my job rewarding.
Pros: work daily can be challenging and exciting.
Cons: promotion and change happends way to slow .

Great learning experience on how government operate from a political point of view.

Excellent learning curve.
I am fully qualified mechanical engineering technologist and currently I am an engineering technologist candidate with the Engineering Counsel of South Africa (ECSA). Over the past 4 years I have developed skills in engineering sectors such as Design, Manufacturing, HVAC, Maintenance and Fabrication Inspections. I have an excellent grasp on engineering principles and I am able to translate academic aspects of the discipline from the classroom in practical ways on site. I have gained extensive experience in HVAC, ventilation (schedules), machine selection, and the project management aspect, whereby I have dealt with contractors and I have formed part of a professional project team. From design to commissioning have I supervised project in the Building, Wastewater and Reticulation sectors. I have great interpersonal skills and I am happy working in a tight – knit team to produce excellent results for the clients. I am fluent in verbal and writing in English and Afrikaans.

I am a dedicated team player, with more than 10 years administrative and supervuisory experience
I have more than 10 years of administrative experience as of which are 5 years within the Traffic Services. I am currently working as a Clerk/Cashier and she is also our Time Administrator. As a Clerk my functions is mainly to assist and rendering a service to the public. As the time administrator she is responsible for all administrative issues related to time & attendance of the staff of Bellville Driving License Testing Centre.

Excellent learning position
I'm a fieldworker for city of cape town, where i work with the homeless people on streets and trying to give them shelters or to reunite them with their family. I love working working with them because i am a people's person and like giving my helping hand where i can. I am passionate of with what i am doing and will strive to the best of my ability to help others. Working with my co-workers, i learn a lot from them as they are the permanent staff, we have a good understanding where it comes to work. I have learn to respect others and to help more, because living on streets it is very difficult and the struggle is real. Most challenging part is to work in dangerous areas.

I am a very self-motivated individual
I believe that I am a dedicated and diligent worker with a good work ethic and a desire to achieve success. I believe that I am well organized and capable of performing well under pressure. My hobbies include outdoor activities such as running, rugby and being generally health conscious. My career interests includes plan, research, maintenance, design and manufacture mechanisms this equipped us to work in teams to be able to deal with different group dynamics, it also allowed us to be able to solve problems which arise in our water plant to make easy to maintain and save water.; I have a particular interest into with cad drawings, mechanical maintenance and manufacturing and obtain experience in an engineering field and sustainability would be ideal.

It was an excellent opportunity to work with the public
It was very exciting as everyday was different. I had a good working relationship with my co-workers,we worked well together. If we had issues we would resolve it in a professional manner, no arguments. Working at Sub council opened up an entire new world I got exposed to working with ward councillors and sourcing jobseekers for the various ward allocated projects. The experience gained is honestly immeasurable.
Pros: It was a great opportunity to grow
Cons: The salary wasn't adequate for the work losd
