HIV Project

For the past 10 years, i have been working in an HIV project that was affiliating under Department Of Health in partnership with Walter Sisulu University-Health Science department in Eastern Cape, working as a Training Administrator. The period in which I've worked there has taught me more than a lot ranging from planning of the year activities, organizing seminars/ conferences etc, being involved in a budget spending,co-ordination of small projects within the HIV project, controlling of the organization resources, following up on certain matters like HR issues for workers, payments for service providers etc. I have also been exposed a lot in managing a web-project (setting up tasks, using teleconferencing & video conferencing resources), coalition of statistics for submission to the donors and other administrative duties

Pros: Interacton with stakeholder from local, national & internationally
Cons: Long hours

Experience

For past 12 years, i worked for an HIV project affiliating under DOH in EC, as a Training Administrator. This period taught me a lot ranging from planning year activities, organizing seminars/ conferences, involved in a budget controlling, dealing with employees HR issues, payments/issuing of orders/vouchers for service providers etc. Exposed in managing a web-project (setting up tasks, using teleconferencing & video conferencing resources), coalition of statistics for submission to the donors and other administrative duties. I then moved to Public Admin dept where i deal with handling of student data, arranging logistics for external short learning programmes and national diplomas offered to external organisations. Requisitioning of orders, vouchers and payments for services rendered for small projects co-ordinated by our department. Processing of claims for staff involved in outside projects. Liaison with stakeholders for funding of students projects.

Pros: I got to excel in the following- communication skills, negotiation skills, interpersonal skills, presentation skills, computer skills, project co-ordination skills
Cons: Extra working hours and travelling

I would like to work at Senior Management level in the Operations/Corporate Services environment.

Responsibilities: Formalize strategic & operational objectives. Identify financial & operational risks. Policy formulation & writing. Performance evaluation. Ensure cost effectiveness & efficiency. Identify business opportunities. Draft & implement financially viable & sustainable business plans. Streamline cross-functional systems & activities. Communication. Staff development & coherence. Determine standards. Ensure functionaries achieve Strat Obj. Establish data recording mechanisms. Track progress & performance. Establish forums for technology research & infrastructure development. Draft & manage budgets with financial control measures. Project Management. Contract management. Time-management, target driven ref quality & standards. Managing a large number of staff located at decentralised workstations. Natural Team player but prefers to take the lead in critical situations that demands action & positive outcome. Known as a strategist leading technologists to perform towards common organizational goals.

Pros: Working with people and infrastructure development projects is my focus and joy.
Cons: The current state of finances in the tertiary environment is a disgrace and difficult to manage in terms of service providers

Exciting and interesting learning moment

working at WSU was one of big moments in my life time since it was my first in the field of work from school. the experience was good because working with people is what I love the most so helping students was good to me. I work very well with a team as well I'm working alone I push my self to meat my targets and cut off dates.

Management didn't value employees that much.

Working experience: i was working with people who had the same objective mine,I admired so much assisting students who were computer illiterate ate that particular time and also working there game a platform to experience what Ive learned in Information system at University.To be specific Ive learned a lot be able to work under time pressure because at that i was working at the same time a university student.

I'm the best in the field give me an opportunity of meeting up and your expectations will be full met.My ambition is to work and provide my services and also ensure that the work performed is of quality and add value to the organization, with specific objectives of recommendation of improving the efficiency of the organization and myself. I have experience gained through my involvement in the Human Resource Unit at various units. I also lectured in the University of Walter Sisulu and have extensive knowledge of research as I am currently doing my PhD with North-West University. I aspire to be qualified as a Doctor in Public Management and governance.

Good communication skills

I completed Matric on 2011 at Pakamani S.S.S . I went to Walter Sisulu University to study National Diploma in Internal Auditing. I obtained this qualification in 2015. From 2015 to 2016 I was intern in Finance department at Walter Sisulu University. My duties included to capture invoices, transfer money to accounts of creditors, reconcile and filing. What I enjoyed there is that I was trained to use system. The work environment allowed me to apply what I learned in class room in real situations. There was a good communication between staff members . I was treated as a staff member not a trainee.

Pros: I had opportunity to apply my theory from learning to work environment
Cons: No sick leave

I am a Mechanical Engineer with National Diploma. A conscientious, dedicated, flexible and reliable person fully committed to work for the benefit of the company. In any task that I undertake i believe timeous completion, accuracy and i enjoy challenges. I enjoy contact with people and work well with colleagues while striving to be professional in my conduct. I have developed a strong ethical code and broad base root experience in the day –to –day work with Quality Control/ Assurance. I am a well presented young man who has the capacity for growth in my chosen career and i will be an asset to any company that chooses to employ me in the growth and development of both my and the company’s future. I can even work on Saturdays if necessary.

Excellent learning curve

I was a computer lab assistant at Walter Sisulu University. I was doing typing, photocopying and scanning. Taking notes and filling documents, respond to telephones calls/ request as well as visitor and direct them to the relevant person for attention. Assisting students with computer programs e.g how to use Ms word, Ms Excel etc. Capturing students training needs and report back on the progress and organisation training for students. Assist in compiling library work schedule, assisting in the coordination of student training needs, arranging meetings and taking minutes, filling, responsible for administration and operational computer switchboard.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Long working hours
