There are great opportunities to enhance ones-self at UniZulu

Working for the UniZulu has enhance my ability to interact with different people at different levels ranging from general workers to Senior Professors. I enjoy working with teams as you get constractive criticism and redirect your behavour to an acceptable culture.

Pros: There is great room for promotion within the University which follows promotion criteria to be met
Cons: For now I would say the strike, which is delaying our processes and the learning delays

Being at Unizulu has been a blessing because of the positive working environment

t Being at University of Zululand has been a blessing because of the positive working environment and it is always fun to work as a team. I have learnt alot from being a tutor, a tutor co-ordinator, an administrative assistant and a lecturer.

Excellent experience

It was really a great experience and I learnt a lot of fruitful things.My communication and teamwork skills were improved. We worked successfully as a team with other students who were also volunteering

Risk Assessment

There was lack of experience from the supervisor and lack of support from the leadership, the Executive director did not prioritize the significant on Occupational Health and Safety. As a result Safety department was an non existing department.

I'm Thabiso Ntombela, a graduate from University of zululand. I have a BSc Chemistry and mathematics , honours in chemistry qualifications obtained 2017 and 2018 respectively. I am a hard worker self motivated person who can work under pressure.

Good working environment

I work with good student, they are well committed to their school work, hard working and self motivated. I work 3 hours a week, where I make R 75 per hour which is not enough for living.

Excellent environment for gaining skills

Work requires full attention, I have great relationships with co-workers . I have learnt to take work seriously and to prioritize. I enjoy coming up with innovative ideas and the challenging aspect is that the current salary mostly covers for transportation costs

Diverse environment

Due to the current covid regulations, interactions with fellow staff memebrs are limited to online meetings. I enjoy the sense of control over my work and the accountability that comes with it, though being in Asset management does require some physical interaction with custodians and the regulations do pose as a challenge in this regard management does require some physical interaction with custodians and the regulations do pose as a challenge in this regard

Good as a stepping stone for career advancement

I have been with the institution for some years. Growth in career is extremely slow, which tampers with morale. But you gain a lot of exposure working with challenging internal and external stakeholders. You also gain in terms of multi-tasking. It is worth to work for as a start.

Cons: Slow career progression
