University of Cape Town Reviews

Good learning curve

UCT has good values, but these are not being implemented. I have experienced the organization to not be compassionate and friendly to staff work-life balance. What seemed to be more important was getting the work done. Not much intervention is being done when employees raise issues. Support is not being given to employees

Pros: Good opportunity to further our studies and specialize
Cons: Toxic working environment

Fun learning work space

The department I have worked in at the University of Cape town, CILT is an amazing support space to grow and develop myself. Learnt many life skills which I am grateful for and will take it with me whenever I go.

Pros: Positive, free space, encouraging
Cons: No space for growth and no permanency

My position is very challenging

Working with students from different backgrounds on a daily bases is challenging and interesting. We as staff work together as a dedicated team, which makes our working environment pleasant. We do have our off days in which we deal with professionally. Changes in procedure is very challenging as tasks change from time to time, so accuracy is very important.

Pros: continuous learning
Cons: forgetting to take breaks
