I am a retiree

I worked for Government for 15years and had worked in the Private Companies prior to joining Government. My last job was at the Private Office of the President where I was responsible for supervising administrative and research support to the Advisors of the President, worked closely with the Protocol and Events Teams during the official engagements of the President both locally and internationally. I handled President’s Correspondence which was predominantly comprised of the public Enquiries related to poor service delivery. I would Liaise with the relevant Departments at National, Provincial and Local Governement to slice submitted problems

Pros: The job taught me to keep to deadlines and to be highly focused
Cons: Staff shortages for deployment if when there were too many official engagements scheduled closely to each other

I am retired

Order entry, customer liaison, dispatch of orders Arranging of transport Arranging of meetings and flights Got on very well with co-workers Entering stock counts on Sage and balancing stock on system with stock at the depots. Most challenging aspect of the job was to arrange transport to customers all over South Africa. It was like arranging a milk train - stopping at every destination along the route. You had to co-ordinate the routes in order to save on transport costs.

Pros: Great CEO and Managers who assisted you in every aspect of your work. Very competitive salaries and no discrimination between men, women and ethnic groups. One big, happy family. It was awesome to work for them
Cons: There were no cons as far as I am concerned.

Wonderful opportunity to learn diverse functions & multi-tasking skills

Typical day at work Check all expected cargo due in for the day & recap on lost NTH or delayed cargnotify relevant office and airline Notify client. Check with w/hose on cargo availability, confirmm with client. Arrange delivery, invoice file prepare full document pack for customer on delivery. Negotiate with a The. Most challenging aspect is that i cNnot see what i am typing irlines & yransporter for best possible price. Send out daily Status reports. System to be updated continuously throughout the day. Make sure any projects you are working on are updated with relevant delays Update customer accordingly. Maximisecannot client retention get into cal Dayb

Excellent learning curve

Good working conditions. Loved being the bookkeeper, doing bank reconciliations and daily cashflow, petty cash, cashbook ,creditors, debtors, general ledger. Processing all of the mentioned and doing the relevant reconciliations. Producing the Manament Accounts monthly and doing the month end function on Syspro.

Pros: Allowed to work without supervision.
Cons: Not much back up from management

Good coworkers, good challenges, Goo rewards

I usually start work at 08:00 and finishwhenever the work is done.There is a large group of highly skilled co-workers taht we all bounce things off each other. The challenges are that no prpoblen os usually the same. This is what I also enjoy about the company and the jpb.

Pros: Different problems to solve every day. Highly experienced co-workers
Cons: Takes tooo long to get things done in a large company

Love working with people and nature

I (I always enjoyed working with people, plants and also I love doing or supervising maintenance, etc (from my engineering background as a young man.

Attention to detail

To maintain optimal stock holding to achieve target and cut expenses to achieve bottom line in the business. To guide other stuff members to have same goal in the business

My job as Head of Department (CPO) was very stressful, challenging but enjoyed my work.

Challenges on daily basis. Work environment with the various people from Non whites through to whites. All races. Motivation of staff on a daily basis. Uniform orders to HR. Biggest challenges was to have all staff at work daily and worked out time roster if staff not pitching to fill the gaps. Vehicles to exit the yard on time. Time Management and Disciplinary action enforced as well as counceling

Pros: Work done at the end of the day
Cons: Stresfull working conditions to see if all Teams arrived back at Base
