Great 22 Years
Blue chip company that offered many opportunities for promotion. During my 22 years I was promoted three times. High pressured environment but rewarding. Enjoyed the challenges and the freedom to make decisions. At senior level the company required more than normal working hours and it was not unusual to work late into the night to meet deadlines. Fortunately the company provided me with a laptop and internet link to system. Enjoyed watching my staff grow and learn from my experience. Co-workers were senior managers who held no punches in the Boardroom. One did not have any "friends" in the Boardroom. So one had to be prepared and have all relevant information at hand.
Pros: Prospects to work in Africa
Cons: As Senior Manager there are no defined working hours. Often difficult to plan leave for long term.

Not to sure
I am a retired contrcts director, started my own small consulting initiative. I am currently assisting mainly emerging contractors with the most significant contractor being in office restoration and maintenance.
Pros: Do not want to be promoted
Cons: I am willing to work hours as established by cotractor

Fantastic place for job satisfaction and growth
The core values of the company was "High ethical behaviour"and "Safety on and off the job" and "Respect for people"and the "Environment" One was guided daily by these core value in your interaction with people inside and outside the company.We we were taught,for example, to read our e-mails carefully before pressing the send button,especially as we were a multinational company dealing with different culture and nationalities. The challenges of the job is that one was dealing constantly with outside parties,such as creditors, clearing agents,and colleagues in the USA and Europe.One had to win their trust and co-operation to get the job done
Pros: International exposure to rate oneself against your overseas colleagues
Cons: Change of staff, due to promotion or resignation

Great working environment
I was very happy in the 18 years i worked for the Company unfortunately they put me on retirement. I think I've got a few more year's to work and I'm not ready to retire.
Pros: The bosses treated all staff members the same

Excellent company to work for.
Answering e-mails Entering orders Organising trucks to deliver product Sourcing products from factory if none available at store. Very good relationship with co workers. Learnt to be very patient and to listen to customers. I enjoyed every aspect of my work especially when we have stock available and all orders could be met. To keep the stock at consignment depots balancing with the company system.
Pros: Worked on my own and did not report to my boss every day. I was trusted to do the job.
Cons: There were no cons.

Love to work half a day
i am retired now and would like something to do as i am totally able to work still but not in the 9 to 5 situations, want to be more flex-able, yet still earning money. not interested in taking over or be the boss, just a support maybe or more if possible

Great job satisfaction
My work was never finished. My company provides a 24/7/365 day service. Interacting with staff and clients provides me with a pulse from which I assess the status quo. My staff understand that I demonstrate respect towards everyone, they also understand that I do not tolerate poor discipline and tardiness. They know I expect to find in staff the common honesty and integrity of men of business, some exposure of the qualities of worthiness of the esteem I freely offer and/or respect that I expect them to display towards clients and peers alike. The downside to this job is dealing with, 'failing to prevent damage and/or injury to staff and clients and/or their property'. That is really 'facing the music'.
Pros: The joy of a job well done.
Cons: Overseeing the perpetual fight against increasing crime.

Im hard worker can work independently
I work in correctional services for 33 years out of this year's i have been manager for 24 years in the following sections HR Logistic. Procurement. Payment section. Investigation Officer, Chairing of disciplinary hearings and Regional inspector in all KZN Correctional Centre

Claims and Insurance Handling
Daily handling of marine claims - in contact with the ports, claimants and insurers. Making recommendations with the regards to the quantum and finalization of claims. In contact Marine Engineers, Shipyards, Agents and Assessors. In working in the port and marine environments I have gathered a great deal of knowledge on maritime claims handling, maritime insurance and maritime salvage

Placed on early retirement during restructuring
As Regional Parts Manager responsible for various regions (including Sub-Saharan Africa) and later for the whole South Africa, I gained valuable experience in keeping the clients and dealerships happy. Being the liaison person between client, Dealership and Head office was normally the most challenging, but at the same time the most enjoyable part of my day. What I learnt in the process is that I am good at resolving disputes and conflict.
Pros: A good Company to work for
Cons: Lots of travelling
