Metropolitan Health Reviews

The environment is constantly changing so the need to be felxible is very prevalent.

The people that I deal with make my work worthwhile. I enjoy the consulting and engagement element of my job. The most challenging aspects of my job is dealing with the constant changes. The leaders in the organization are not as change agile as they need to be and this poses a challenge as well as an opportunity to positively impact on their ability to manage and deal with change. I really enjoy the assessment development discussion and assisting leaders to see how they can reach their potential. I am constantly dealing with people and seeing how best I can support them to reach their objectives.

Pros: Great learning opportunities
Cons: Hierarchical structure and culture

A typical day

A typical Monday morning work day for me starts at 08H30, where I meet with team to reflect on the day before deliverables and lessons learnt. Once we done recapping and then plan for the week ahead, look at what the challenges could be and how best to solve for it. Our environment is very different as HR practitioners our focus is on HR key deliverables as well as the clients. Most times these two aspects run concurrently and places a lot of strain on HR, however we do also understand how the deliverables interlink and we do see the bigger picture. That's what makes my role exciting is that everyday there are new challenges, another way of doing things differently or more creatively and innovatively. I have learnt that nothing is constant, that things changes all the time and you have to be resilient and forward thinking.

Pros: Excellent Employee Value propersition
Cons: Lots of retropective decision making instead of proactiveness

Good experience

A typical working day starts at 07:30 until 15:30. Working relationship is very warm and friendly, with limited challenges. This is a deadline driven industry, learnt a lot when it comes to meeting deadlines. Although deadlines brings pressure, they also bring excitement at the same time. It is always tough to meet deadlines because of unforeseen aspects that are times beyond one's control.

Pros: There is an opprtunity to grow.
Cons: The growth might take a lon time

Company is perfect has no cproblems excpect salry

working for metropolitan one needs to be patient, calm, good listening skills, problem solving skills and multy task as you on call you may have to solve an account and not keeping a person for hold for 30seconds, typical work day would be not having able to solve a query for member as you need to await for another department , what I have learned telephone etiquettes , being charge of a situation and being able o spot cases that require agent assistance and resolving on 1st call the challenging part is speaking to people with hearing problem and old extremely old people as you have to be extremely patient and be slow of explanation

Pros: traing is proper organised
Cons: nomarl hours

Excellent learning curve

My typical day at work involves dealing with members & providers with benefit confirmation and claims enquiries. I deal with quite a number of angry or not happy clients & I have learnt to always come them down. give them slolutions & If the problem can not be fixed, I will always offer to call them & give them feedback. what I enjoy most is helping people & making their day. I have learnt to listen and communicate well. I am a team player & enjoy assisting my team mates.

Pros: Being 2nd in charge & been given the chance to be an Acting Team Leader
Cons: working under pressure.

I am a frontline consultant

I am a frontline consultant and we administer medical aid I am a team player and believe that as a team we are much more stronger than when someone has to work alone. in short, I have a harmonious relationship with my team mates. what I have learnt about my job is that patience is a virtue and it does help at times to be patient not with customers only however with self, colleagues as well as everyone else that we encounter what I enjoy most about my job is that I get to interact with different people and each having a different query and it always satisfies me knowing that at the end of the day I work towards solving each query and having to exceed my employers expectation as well as the clients. having to deal with irate customers however in each day I try to put myself in each one's shoes and that helps me to deliver as per company's expectations.

Pros: having to stand in as second in charge whenever my team leader is not available
Cons: dealing with an irate member that is not prepared to understand the processes of the company which an agent cannot bypass
