Great company that invests in employee professional development
The company took me in as a graduate and developed my skills into an Intermediate quantity surveyor. I have had the opportunity to go on a few courses to develop my construction skills. I have learned communication skills, cost management skills as well as communication skill. Group Five is a company that believes in team work and there is an open door communication policy between employees and management.

Excellent learning experience
Group Five has given me the ability to grow within my career. It has given me the platform to climb the corporate ladder by assisting me with my studies and promoting me within the company. I have worked with different people over the years and with their help and knowledge I was able to improve my work skills. It is always a pleasure to work within a team where everyone’s input counts and you are always made part of the team.

Excellent learning curve
On a typical work day, I review my audit schedule, then visit sites to perform the actual audits, then put together day to day data that will form part of the month end report. My relationship with co-workers is fairly good. It helps to learn the different personalities and know how to deal with them. I have learnt that nothing beats planning, when you plan, you are sure to succeed, hence the project quality plans help in ensuring that mechanisms of working efficiently are put in place. I enjoy travelling to and visiting all different sites, with different scopes and different people. Along with the challenges that come with it such as when people do not conform and comply to the requirements. However the most challenging is when people have a negative attitude towards quality requirements. There is nothing as hard as having have to change behavior and mentality.

Le Roux Jacobs | Review The construction industry has a high job satisfaction level. Most of my time is divided into: Risk management, problem solving, engineering solutions, staff management, safety management, client satisfaction and subcontractor control. I believe that a good relationship with your team ensures respect, confidence, trust and good communication between staff members. This type of team can be successful and build a future together. Good team spirit and organized communication can ensure the delivery of a successful project. Working with positive motivated people, resolving engineering issues and achieving on time project deliverables are of high value in the construction industry. Negative subcontractor/consultant relationships and bad communication can negatively impact a project.
