Excellent learning curves and exposure.
Since day 1 of joining the company it has been a learning curve, meeting new challenges and understanding mining industry as a business. Subsequent to that, we are great team of young geologists always challenging each other within and outside work. As part of the team, always eager to work and making sure we meet targets at a high level of business proficiency and professional. The most thing that make the job interesting is the challenges that we encounter like grade management, drilling issues, etc but as scientists we always strive to win and solve these issues.

Adding value to make a positive change
I control and manage Budget holders' costs and making sure that stakeholders are aware of their financial position on an ongoing basis and have all the information necessary to make meaningful decisions. In this position, I lead the development and implementation of budgets and key financial decisions, and make recommendations for more effective management strategies. This position also involves budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting. I am also have people reporting to me who process invoices and following up for payment. I have implemented new processes to improve current work load and to enable them to be pro-active. We are in the process to implement Cost Centre accounting in SAP and I am involved to ensure that it is done successfully. I have developed an overtime report - this assist with Cost savings anitiatives.

Good salary base well educated work culture . Good bonus schemes. Well balanced safety record if taken industries average. Not a stable management team, manager change to much . No stability, cant build you area of responsibility according to your standards. Always new changes

Fair place to kick start a career
Good company to learn and experience a very unique mining method. What lacks is the direction towards ones development. Daily duties are not mentally challenging I.e not much of thinking work is done.
Pros: There's a lot to learn
Cons: Not much opportunity given to learn different departments and how the mining system really works.

The way, relationships, learning and challenges.
We work at a very fast pace and also very accurate. Everyone has good relationship and is very helpful and understanding. I've learnt that time is money, but also to rather do something slower but accurate instead of fast and incorrect. My most challenging aspects is not the accuracy I'm working at but to finish in time, but I enjoy the pressure, it makes me perform.
Pros: there is opportunities for promotions, it depends on yourself if your willing to work for them.
Cons: The working hours is normal. It is your choice if you want to work late.
