Personal Assistant for an extensive period

We have a management team of 29 people whom contacts me if they need assistance. But, I am working for the General Works Manager of the Plant as Personal Assistant and as secretary to the Works Manager (2nd in charge), HR Manager and Finance Manager. That includes diary management, telephone screening, enquiries, producing letters and memorandums etc. I have learnt to deal with several different personalities at once. That taught me how to handle relationships and also how to assist my manager in the best way possible. I mostly enjoy arranging the functions, team buildings and travel arrangements. That gives me a sense of satisfaction when it was successful. Also, I love writing, therefore the letters, communiques and news letters are a breeze! The most challenging aspects of the job is the filing, but I believe nobody loves filing. I have however created a very effective electronic filing system that works 100%

Pros: Good benefits
Cons: No promotion opportunities

Independent learning curve in ensuring task execution.

Working for Glencore gave me an opportunity to be independent in my workplace. My typical workday would start with an overview meeting with both the General Engineering Supervisor (GES) and Foremans looking at the previous shifts as we are working three shifts per day. My relationship with my crew and subordinates is very good as I believe in an open-door policy. Independency and ownership were one of my learnings as responsibility is expected from me, due to a flat structure management structure. I enjoy being part of a winning team, which takes challenges (Production, HR or Personal) head-on as they arise.

Pros: Ownership; Competency (Training); Great reward system and Benefits.
Cons: Wide area of responsibility (Underground works and two processing plant's infrastructure and associated systems including the whole surface area)

Challenging, high demand, fast passed and extreme pressure

A typical days work is to get to work safely, have meetings, prioritize work and hand out to relevant employees, co-ordinate daily tasks/activities, feedback meetings in afternoon, sometimes attend to breakdowns in plant. I enjoy learning new plant equipment and operations. I have a very good relationship with all co-workers and easy going with all. My job is challenging because it is fast passed and high demand plant with extreme pressure.

Pros: None
Cons: No real opportunity for growth

Growth

Planning daily targets, updating cop's, conducting PTO's and Pi's on employees. Building team spirit amongst workers, motivating the team on positive behaviour. Coaghing on new employees, ensuring that employees follow mine procedure and policies. Team work serves good results.

Pros: Growth is too slow
Cons: 12 hour shift

Working under pressure, doing the job without supervisor.

Everyday make sure you do your inspection without compromising. Know the runing hours for the equipment your maintaining to prevent unnecessary breakdowns and overtime. I have lean that most of the plant availability is controlled by the maintenance team which is working together, having proper tools or right tools for the job . Nothing you will win without proper planning. I have learned to take ownership of the equipment its make my job very easy.all the difference during the job we forget about them when the plant is running mormal we make sure all the issues are addressed accordingly.

Pros: I want to be a maintenance specialist
Cons: Yes on maintenance thats one of the challenges you have to deal with longer working hours.
