I'm servicing outlets that sells alcohol, I make sure that our products are accessible, available at all times at an affordable price. I do promotions as well.

The environment is that of high performance

A typical day starts with Sales updates, secondly enquiring with the team to ensure that everyone is okay and ready to take on the day's challenges. As a team we need to consider the Kpi's we are chasing, versus our progress per day. The environment is that of high performance and quality standards need aintained at all times.

It is quite a pleasure working at Distell, very different from the mining sector I come from.

It is quite a pleasure working at Distell, very different from the mining sector I come from. Daily and weekly duties includes managing the main data system, scheduling of preventative and reactive works, Chair the daily production meeting, shutdown meetings and weekly planning meetings. Compile reports to upper management with regards to cost centre management, machine efficiency,overall equipment utilisation and shutdown plans. Contractor management and sourcing of equipment components are my main duties too. RCFA and adjudicating quality and standards are done weekly or monthly pending on the need.

Interesting and very much needed exposure to the FMCG industry.

A review of a previous day’s plans and a view into incoming day’s plans is start to a typical day. Relations with co-coworkers are very important as working together as a team yield more output for the company. I have learnt to be resilient and give my all in all that I do,not everyone will know everything .Challenging aspects would be not being able to do your work whenever you want to due to limitations of some sort. I work and when I’m home and feeling bored I want to work and if I don’t have the tools to do so,then it becomes very difficult ,I always want to be 1 step Ahead of the rest.

Pros: Work opportunities will always be available and great company to have worked for.
Cons: Far from home,making total commitment to the work not easy.

Talent management is good.

Great company to work for, cultured through diversity and ability to open doors for junior staff, great brands. Hats off to the top execs for the way they protect livelihoods and salaries during the pandemic

Pros: The company is shaped by diversity and the company has put in place measures fo protect jobs and livelihoods, job security is also top of mind for Distell.
Cons: The cons are more of a people problem than a company problem
