I am enjoying working at Environmental Affairs Because it is a nice department except i am enjoying my work, learning a lot and experiencing news things. I have a good working relationships with all the employees from different unit. my present employer is satisfied with my work rate and i like challenge because it gives me an opportunity to learn and growth career wise and work.

My experience

I relate well to other people and enjoy participating in teamwork I am highly confident and enthusiastic. I strive for continuous improvement and always willing to learn. One of my key strengths is that I do not give up easily and always give of my best. I am always ready to face challenges and I don't give up easily, I make sure that I make a sound decision and solution to every challenge that I may meet.

Proper learning environment

My employer offers an opportunity to learn on a daily basis. I am interested and compassionate about working with people, empowering the needy and working on learning programs which enhance people skills. My environment is very interesting as there is a fluid approach to situations due to the ever-changing environmental circumstances. The hyper-turbulent political environment ensures that I learn a variety of skills on how to deal with all situations. I also enjoy working with people from all walks of life and that fulfills me to see people develop from rags to stardom.

Control Environmental Management Officer

I have good communication, organizing, decision making, analytical and interpersonal skills. I am particularly friendly, ambitious, self motivated and remain self disciplined and focused at all times. I thoroughly enjoy taking on new challenges and able to deal with pressure without hesitation. I have strong ability in learning fast without compromising the accuracy and result orientated approach; and also ensures that I efficiently and effectively complete tasks and projects of quality not quantity. I have had a wonderful time learning and applying my skills in the field of Engineering.

Working for the Department of Environmental Affairs has given me the privilege to work with experts of various trades. My work overseas Microwave Engineering, Networking, Radio Frequency, VOIP and Electronics. I manage the Radio communication within the Base as well as the Network. I ensure that all Electronic devices and appliances are in working conditions. I have acquired better skills in Networking since I started working at the Department. I am currently serving as the deputy team leader of my group and that requires that I am accountable to my teammates and ensure that the team structure is strong. I like the working environment as it encourages us to think "out of the box" during challenging times; there are usually instances wherein things don't work properly and in those instances, we are required to expound our knowledge and skills. I also like the fact that my superiors are approachable. We frequently embark on team-building sessions to help strengthen our relationship.

LEARNING CURVE

I CONDUCT RESEARCH AND DO SITE VISITS. I GET ALONG WITH ALL MY COLLEAGUES TO ENSURE A HEALTHY WORKING ENVIRONMENT. I HAVE LEARNT TO BE PATIENT, COMPROMISE, ADAPT, FOLLOW PROCEDURES AND GOVERNMENTAL PROCESSES AND POLICIES. I TYPICALLY ENJOY ATTENDING MEETINGS AND WRITING REPORTS ON THOSE PARTICULAR MEETINGS. THE CHALLENGE THAT I FACED WAS HAVING TO LEARN MANY OTHER LANGUAGES OF MY COLLEGES EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT PART OF MY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS, I ENJOYED THE CHALLENGE.

Cons: NO ROOM FOR GROWTH

Research and Development Opportunity

South African National Antarctic Expedition. 10 members of the overwintering team staying throughout 2017. As the Cosmic Ray Engineer I had a great team and learnt and grew a lot as a person. The greatest challenge is being isolated from family and friends (home)

Quite Interesting and Challenging.

My work as an area manager involves managing project coordinators who are implementing Natural Resource Management Projects, specifically management and/or clearing of Alien Invasive Plants, Bush Encroachment and Soil Erosion. The key Performance Indicators include Planning, Implementation, Compliance Monitoring, Financial Management, Close Out of Projects, Risk Management and Health and Safety. I work closely with project coordinators and the areas I am responsible for is quite vast and I have travel quite extensively across the North West Province to do compliance monitoring within projects as well as meeting with stakeholders such as municipalities, chiefs and other affected parties in the projects. Once the area has been successfully rehabilitated from degradation we hand over to the land user.

Good organisational skills

- I like working with people from different cultures because i learn from them besides work. -I'm friendly, very accommodating personality, hence i gets along very well with all co-workers – irrespective of their rank in the organization. - Also go extra mile to assist the co-workers. - I understand this job requires a lot of hard work, dedication and in- depth knowledge about the company policies and ability to work with a team as well as alone. -I have the ability to take on challenges. Also I am good at adapting to new environments and learning about new positions. -I can as well work with limited or without supervision because I’m reliable. -I also ensure that professionalism is projected at all times both in dress code as well as in attitude. -i have skills that i have gained while working in this company eg, Business writing skills, Computer skills, Interpersonal skills, organisational skills etc. - so far i don't have challenges in this job because i pay attention to details.

Pros: TO BROADEN MY KNOWLEDGE AND LEARN NEW THINGS
Cons: 8 HOURS IS NORMAL WORKING HOURS M,HOWEVER I CAN WORK OVERTIME WHEN IT REQUIRES ME TO DO SO.

It is a learning curve

on weekly basis i get to travel to places where projects are based,to do inspection with my colleague and supervisor,i have learnt how to identify the species being cleared from other trees,to compile report and to conduct environmental and safety compliance. I enjoy doing inspection and the most challenging thing is when your colleague disagrees with works

Pros: It will open doors for me
Cons: I travel a lot
