Excellent learning curve

working at Datacentrix has helped me grow as an individual and further develop my information technology skills. I have gained commercial awareness and have also hardened my soft skills give that we interact with clients on a daily basis. I enjoy working with my team workers because we are united and help carry each other forward, diligently delegating the work amongst ourselves and providing assistance for one another. I enjoy working with people and solving technical queries, understanding what each user needs.

Lack of Leadership

The leadership within the company is poor. With a lack of process and procedure employees are left to their own to achieve targets without guidance and mentor ship. This also negatively effects employees as morale is very low. Even with trying to increase morale, the leadership always interjects negatively.

Lots of cons than prons in the company

the company its huge and wish to work for a fast growing company like this where there is growth ,benefits and more opportunities ,I have learnt more and got exposed in many types of different technologies and what I enjoy the most its when working on servers and some applications

Excellent learning curve

We are divided by groups. There is techical team, 1st and 2nd line user support, system developers, Business analysts,production consultants, project managers and change managers and I am one of the 1st and 2nd line system user support. I have a great opportunity learn more something new everyday about Information Technology as I am always working with all the groups because 1st and 2nd line user support is linked to all the groups . I have learnt most how to communicate and handlle the clients issues and be able to resolve the issues.What I enjoy the most is when I receive the new technical issue which I'm not farmiliar with because that give me the oppoturnity to learn how to resolved it. When I receive the new technical issue, I just escalate it to the techical team and they will take me step by step process on how to resolve it and I document on the User Support guide so that I may deal with the issue myself in future, hence I consider as the best way of learning more about technology.

Junior Tech

working for datacentrix is a privilege they treat the management treat their stuff as well as clients with respect they allow us to learn and to grow as individuals , their spirits of both respecting the work they do and also the people they give service to has been even adopted by co-workers . Datacentrix has taught me how to be a team player .

Good learning and to gain experience

It is a company that requires one to work under pressure, as i am the only one on site tackling every IT related calls and to help older people who aren't familiar with computers. My day is a 9 hour shift and I report to the institutions super user and the systems manager on site. The relationship with my co-workers is good because we created a group on WhatsApp so that if one is having a problem with fixing a fault, that can ask us to help and if we cannot help we refer to our mentor. I have learnt that teamwork pays in good results and good results equals to a happy client because now I am able to fault find and attend to faults quickly because I usually have more than 3 users asking for help at a time. I enjoy working with customers and teach them on the basic stuff about computers, eg. Getting IP addresses.

Excellent learning curve

The Company I worked for has merged with another company and the core function is Data Infrastructure. They are based at Midrand JHB and have Branches all over South Africa. I was situated at Polokwane Branch. I have learned quite a lot from this industry and it is very interesting. The teams that were under my command consisting of 4-6 people per team were very good and helpful in equipment and stock. Start in the morning at 07:00 and finished at 17:00 some days later. There were no time to sit and play I worked without taking breaks due to the capacity of work that came in from the mines in surrounded areas. I have very good relationships with all the staff members including Management. I enjoyed the most working with procurement, always new stock never routine and always new challenges such as to get material on time shipped from abroad and delivered to SA in time. There will always be an hick up somewhere.

Pros: The promotions and opportunities is endless in this Company due to the fact that they are more than one Company incorporated in one.
Cons: Long working hours but it is worth working as you see the end result and know you were part of making it happen.

Amazing learning experience

A typical day would be to collect time-sheets, follow up on any queries regarding salaries and exam arrangements. I had a great co-worker, we communicated well among each other to ensure that we did not missed any payroll deadlines. I learnt to forecast, improved my communication skills as I arranged exams nation wide - between resources and vendors. I did not enjoy my job as it had no connection to my qualification. The most challenging aspect of the job is keeping tract of all the different payroll deadlines, while doing all other administration duties like, ordering stationary for the Business Unit, filing, updating client lists, updating resource list and arranging Microsoft exams. Overall, a great learning opportunity as I had not worked in an office prior to this position.

Always willing to learn

A day at work is full of adventures each client each with a different problem so much challenges. There's always something to learn everyday. Building a Good relationship with Co-works is always Positive for a Good Working environment. I've learned that Good communication is something you cant go wrong with. I enjoy learning new things building my knowledge.

Working in a potential level

working with different kind of computer users in Hospital to see them happy knowing that I will help them with any IT support problems they facing. my everyday work is where I do checkups for the server and do networking where necessary, Approaching general IT fault finding everyday and do the approach on Applications like Microsoft Office, BAS, Persal, Bar One and all other Application software they using within a department of health and also working with Different Operating Systems such as Windows 10/8/7 and Ubuntu. I've leant a lot inside the industry not only the support but also including how to handle the Customers pressure and working in SLA and logging and closing calls as well troubleshooting in a deadline. what I enjoy the most is Troubleshooting, finding a problem by myself and make sure I fix it. The most challenging is not to get resources in time then get pressure from the customer.

Pros: the authors says excell where you are, Opportunity for Promotion for me is a great since that mean I'm growing in a industry
Cons: Because I love IT I can work overtime
